Day 319 of 365
"Portrait 319"
This is Dr. To. She is our daughters' dentist. My oldest does not know that she has two cavities. Their second meeting may not be as pleasant as their first. I digress. I had the pleasure of photographing Dr. To and her staff today. Her office is two minutes from our home. That is awesome. So, when deciding on a lighting scenario for corporate headshots for a pediatric dentist, a lot of ideas come to mind. It seemed logical to go with light and poppy. This is a four-light (should have been five) set up. Our key lights are two strip banks, making an inverted "V" around the camera. They deliver the distinct highlight in the eyes. Just beneath the camera is a pop-up white reflector. It fills in any shadows under the chin. Everyone benefits from that little bounce in the neck. At camera-right, over the good doctor's shoulder, there is a softbox, supplying the subtle rim light on the subject's left cheek. It is just a little something extra, and it separates her from the background. I used one (though I could have used two) strobe to light the white background. Knowing that the headshots would be relatively tight, I knew the second one was not critical, but would have made for a more uniform supply of light. It took three trips to the car to get all the equipment into the office to light this image. Ah, the irony of working with light. Thanks for popping by!!
