Peony 'Felix Crousse' 24W21 6yo Lactiflora T1 (Crousse, 1881) (3-DB-R) Lactiflora Cultivar Peony, 32in.@ Maturity, RD Medium height, double, bomb form, raspberry red petals, weak stems, dependable, needs support, midseason bloomer, Hardy to Zone 3-8, Garden T1 (SRC BloomingBulb) PLTD 2018.

 

American Peony Society: FELIX CROUSSE (Crousse, 1881) - Syn. Victor Hugo Double - Red - Late Midseason. Medium height. Poor fragrance. Large, brilliant crimson of even tone and silky luster; very floriferous; stems weak. Foliage good. Has weak stems which need support. Its very clear crimson color makes no pretensions to scarlet. One of the best red varieties. M.

 

Still popular after 137 years. Bred by Félix Crousse (1840-1925) Nancy, France who has close to 100 peonies registered with APS. He acquired Comte de Cussy's peony collection from Calot in 1872.
