While this photo is from a rally that occurred in Louisville, this post is not meant to be "political". This prompt was another tough one for me, but with all that our country is going through, I felt like this would be the perfect opportunity to document the SIGNS that people are holding, the SIGNS that people are upset, the SIGNS that this country is hurting.

This is my response to the challenge issued to me by the lovely debraohearn for the Get Pushed group.

Her challenge was as follows:

I'd like an abstract .. Don't care about color or b/w and ok if you get it using blur technique. Or an everyday thing that you can create an abstract... Not recognizable :)

Hopefully this fits the abstract bill, although I really wish I had cleaned my blinds a bit more before I took the shot!

Shot For:

Get Pushed R17

ODC - Handle with care (it's glass after all!)

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... Thanks to you all!

Take 10 pictures of the same thing using different angles, focal lengths...

This is my favorite shot of the series, mostly because it's the most artistic and interesting I think.

Week 5 for dogwood 2017 challenge was to take ten shots of an object and choose one. The object was obvious and I had a bit of an idea of what I was after though waited for most of the week for white puffy clouds which didn't happen.

Sophomore gymnast Skyelee Lamano and her teammates wait to be introduced at the beginning of their meet against Central Michigan on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015.

Theme for week 5 is composite, so I went with a "selfie" editing in cs5 & nik.

the lighting is from the huge skylight in our living room.

Praying for better weather.

Sometimes I have the problem of stabbing myself in the back. I can seriously be my own worst enemy.

Didn't come out quite as well as I would have liked, but I'm seriously tired and have to post my shot today. I need to stop waiting until the last day :-)

Strobist information. I have to admit, I was tired and I was going to go the easy way with on camera flash pointed up at the corner. Unfortunately for me, my bathroom is way too small(see the doorway on the lower right corner), so I was forced to move the camera out in the hallways. I placed a Nikon SB-28 on a foot stand in the near right corner facing up and towards the wall to give even directional light that somewhat resembels natural bathroom light. I trigged with the cheapie ebay wireless system. It was two shots with the same lighting, and I extracted myself from the second and repositioned the layer on the first image for effect.

WEEK 5: 10, TEN, X

Sugar, sugar... she pretends to be my best friend, but is so, so toxic.

Introducing the cookie cake! Combining two favorites into one great desert. Lol....

Technical: 10 shots; best of 10 unique shots (CC welcome)

Well, meet Sassy. He is a maltese husky mix. Approximately 1+ years old. We are fostering toward rescue from Hope Ranch Sanctuary in Temecula.

Sassy came to us with lots of naughty habits which we are working to correct. But overall 24 pounds of sweet personality and so far, a great companion to my other rescue.

I love this quote by Edward Weston who is the inspiration for my gazania photograph. Gotta find the perks of being on lockdown. Normally I would be traveling, but not with COVID on the loose.

“The photographer who stays at home has one great advantage over the photographer who travels—his familiarity with his surroundings. He can study his material constantly, know how it looks at different times of day and seasons of year. He knows when the light is best in all of his favorite places, when the weather will be good, what kind of clouds to expect.”[1] —Edward Weston.

Inukshuk, the singular of inuksuit, means "in the likeness of a human" in the Inuit language. They are monuments made of unworked stones that are used by the Inuit for communication and survival. The traditional meaning of the inukshuk is "Someone was here" or "You are on the right path."
