Clearly a rockii hybrid peony. Easily identified by its dark basal flares at the center of the flower. This one is NOID from Tree Peony Gardens in Ohio (owners retired). Planted 2014. Also known as 'Joseph Rock' and 'Rock's Variety'
2023 note: trimmed last fal;l. Shape actually resembles a small tree. Looks especially good this year.
