Dasiphora is a genus of three species of shrubs in the rose family Rosaceae, native to Asia, with one species D. fruticosa, ranging across the entire cool temperate Northern Hemisphere. In the past, the genus was normally included in Potentilla as Potentilla sect. Rhopalostylae, but genetic evidence has shown it to

Flower symbol of Rio Grande do Sul, is a plant that is a huge international success. It has many varieties, and both petals and sepals can be of different colors and shapes. The most common colors are red, pink, blue, violet and white, with various combinations, without blending. They rise practically all year round and attract hummingbirds as pollinators.

The branch is pending, but there may be variations, with upright and other pending plants. Should be grown preferably under half shade, some species enjoy full sun.

Its propagation occurs through seeds or by cutting the tips of its branches.

Although it has a great variety, there is a common trait among them all: they greatly appreciate the cold. Therefore, they are more common in places with mild climate. Easily found in the highest regions of Rio Grande do Sul, amid the Atlantic Forest.

Propagation can be either by seed or by cuttings. A curiosity about the origin of its scientific name. Fuchsia derives from the surname of the German physician and botanist Leonhart Fuchs, born in Wemding (1501/1566).

Yellow shrub rose in the city garden

Fuchsia is a genus of flowering plants that consists mostly of shrubs or small trees. The first to be scientifically described, Fuchsia triphylla, was discovered on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic) about 1696–1697 by the French Minim monk and botanist, Charles Plumier, during his third expedition to the Greater Antilles. He named the new genus after German botanist Leonhart Fuchs (1501–1566).

Nerium oleander is a shrub or small tree in the dogbane family Apocynaceae, toxic in all its parts. It is the only species currently classified in the genus Nerium. It is most commonly known as nerium or oleander, from its superficial resemblance to the unrelated olive Olea. It is so widely cultivated that no precise region of origin has been identified, though southwest Asia has been suggested. Oleander is one of the most poisonous commonly grown garden plants. Oleander grows to 2–6 m tall, with erect stems that splay outward as they mature; first-year stems have a glaucous bloom, while mature stems have a grayish bark. The flowers grow in clusters at the end of each branch; they are white, pink to red. 33119

das Bild habe ich zwar bereits vor einem Monat fotografiert, aber es passt heute bestens zu Wetter und Stimmungslage ;-)

Ceanothus are arguably the best blue-flowered hardy shrubs in the UK. The evergreen types provide fantastically dark-green glossy leaves throughout the year and blue flowers are produced in profusion in spring or summer., They are also known as "Californian Lilac"

Sun May 10 is Mother's Day for us. Each year my son hosts it for us and my daughter and her family. This year was planned differently because we are social distancing so we were going to meet in my daughter's back yard. But! Sunday will be 49F for a high and strong chance for rain...so..we moved it to the 17th when it's supposed to be 75 and sunny. Much better choice don't you think?!

This shrub rose is from last July and so the shrub/tree is not blooming yet, but I know exactly where I found it, between two towering neighborhood evergreens...a few seeds carried by the wind no doubt ...and voila, Pink Sherbet beauty!

Wishing you well this weekend, flickr friends.....Pat...xo

This Beautiful Coloured Shrub Dominates this Front Garden Scene ..........Ceanothus is a genus of about 50–60 species of nitrogen-fixing shrubs and small trees in the buckthorn family. Common names for members of this genus are buckbrush, California lilac, soap bush, or just ceanothus. .

Small shrub with pink flowers beside some purple statice. In the distance are some safety flags around an area for some new buildings.

The forms of the landscape on this ridge were either beautiful or bizarre.

It was strange to peer at the sky through the small opening on the left. From certain angles I could see distant landmarks through the opening.

The mangled shrub remnant on the right couldn't have been any more fitting for the place. It had just that certain feeling of character and history to it.

On the cliff walk at Stackpole the sheep roam about and, inevitably, their fleece gets caught on the bushes. There were no clouds to define the sky just milky sheet cloud unfortunately hence the white out sky. Hey Ho, you can't win the all.

Shrub with fine pale pink flowers by the footpath.

Sparrow without a song...all fluffed up for the cold. Snow expected tomorrow.

"A rich, russet-and-gray bird with bold streaks down its white chest, the Song Sparrow is one of the most familiar North American sparrows. Don’t let the bewildering variety of regional differences this bird shows across North America deter you: it’s one of the first species you should suspect if you see a streaky sparrow in an open, shrubby, or wet area. If it perches on a low shrub, leans back, and sings a stuttering, clattering song, so much the better."

This puffed-up sparrow in the tall grasses neither sang nor flew in a direction I expected. We had a bit of light this morning.

Comments unnecessary. Very large crop.

An unknown shrub. . . Doubtless something Mediterranean and/or tropical. Landscaping in the Bay Area.

It's PHOTINIA. Thanks to Alexandra and Liliane, see below, for this ID!

Except for shrubs and trees bearing yellow male catkins and very small red female flowers (www.flickr.com/photos/87453322@N00/54312805895/in/photost...), the banks of the Gaasperplas are still quite bare and grayish. But today I came upon the early-flowering Prunus spinosa. The shrub was prettily set out agains the blue sky.
