Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Kosteri' 22W51 Hinoki R3- ( Koster & Sons Nursery, Netherlands ~1915) Dwarf Japanese Hinoki Cypress hiˈnōkē, Size at 10 years: 3x2ft., Olive green, slight yellow in Winter, USDA Hardiness Zone 5 or 4, Michigan Bloom Month -, In Garden Bed R3 for 9.3 YEARS (6). Planted in 2013.
American Conifer Society: Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Kosteri' is a very choice, irregularly pyramidal dwarf selection of Hinoki cypress with ascending branches and shell-like sprays of light olive-green foliage that assumes a bit of a yellow cast in winter. After 10 years of growth a mature specimen will measure 1.5 to 2 feet (50 - 60 cm) tall and somewhat narrower, an annual growth rate of 2 to 3 inches (5 - 7.5 inches).
This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in 1915 M. Koster & Son Nursery, Boskoop The Netherlands.
Netted leaves. Slow growing plant that never needs pruning. Has a little yellow winter color on flat sprays. Grows 3-4in./year. Found in Holland ~1915 in Boskoop by the Koster & Sons Nursery. Needs partial shade. Obtusa means blunt. Planted 2013. Only ~ 10 inches in 2018.
