Picea abies 'Aarburg' 22W50 Norway J1-

Picea abies 'Aarburg' 22W50 Norway J1- (Andreas Haller Nursery of Aarburg, Switzerland 1965) Weeping Norway Spruce, Size at 10 years: 15x5ft., short needle, USDA Hardiness Zone 3, Michigan Bloom Month 5-, In Garden Bed J1 for 9.5 YEARS (MSU). Planted in 2013.

American Conifer Society: Picea abies 'Aarburg' is a truly bizarre, twisted, weeping wonder. Overall, its form is upright, but tends to meander before re-finding its way skyward. After 10 years of growth, a mature specimen will measure 12 to 15 feet (4 - 5 m) tall, an annual growth rate of 15 to 18 inches (37 - 45 cm), sometimes upward, sometimes outward. Needles are typically dark-green for the species, but at 0.32 to 0.6 inch (8 - 15 mm), are somewhat shorter.

This cultivar originated as a seedling selected in 1965 by Andreas Haller Nursery of Aarburg, Switzerland. This plant makes a very strong statement in a large landscape or arboretum.

Has both spikes and drooping limbs. Very fast growing. Leaders are very strong and can grow 3 ft. per year. Leaves green on an irregular shaped weeper. Planted in 2013. A couple of branches have died off, will trim in 2022.
