Thuja occidentalis 'DeGroot Emerald Spire' 22W48 Arb S3- (Canada) Dwarf Columnar Arborvitae Arb, Size at 10 years: 5x1ft., medium -green, twisted foliage, USDA Hardiness Zone 4, Michigan Bloom Month -, In Garden Bed S3 for 9.2 YEARS (6). Planted in 2013.

 

Dawes Arboretum: An evergreen shrub that forms a tightly branched, narrow cone-shaped plant to 5' tall by 1-2' wide. Foliage is medium dark green year-round. Functions well as a dwarf and adapts easily to most soil conditions. Tolerates wet sites better than most conifers.

 

A columnar Arborvitae. Very narrow with twisted green foliage along the main stem. Planted in 2013. Named after Constant DeGroot (1922-1971), past production/propagation manager at Sheridan Nurseries, Toronto, CA. Thuja occidentalis is also known as northern white-cedar or eastern arborvitae.

 

2022 note: Measured at 8x1.5ft Somewhat taller than registered 10 year height.
