Acer x 'Ice Dragon' 3/2022 Korean Maple D3- (Iseli) Jack Frost® Collection Korean Maple, Mature plant size: 8x10ft., green leaves turning orange & red in the fall. Grows 12-15 inches per year., USDA Hardiness Zone 4, Michigan Bloom Month 5, In Garden Bed D3 for 35 MONTHS (Springhill,). Planted in 2019.
Acer x pseudosieboldianum 'IslID' [Ice Dragon]. Iseli: Ice Dragon™ is a welcome addition to the Jack Frost® series. An all-season, small garden maple, bred and selected to tolerate Zone 4 winters, while retaining the refined qualities of the less hardy Japanese maples. Spring begins as leaves unfurl blushed orange-red, quickly maturing to green. In summer, the finely divided, delicate appearing green leaves are durable and tolerant of sun and heat. Autumn brings foliage of a kaleidoscope of yellow, orange and red. After leaf drop, the sinuous undulating branch structure is a visual treat during the long cold winter months.
2020 note: suffered from a couple of late hard frosts, but seems to have recovered nicely. Looks like deer have been feeding on several of the shrubs and small trees in the front yard. 2021.
