In the temperate forests of this part of Asia, it is common to see lobed-leaf trees that sprout in spring with an orange or reddish hue, later turning green as the season progresses. Some specimens have deeply edged leaves with a firm texture, adapted to cold climates, while others have more delicate, palmate shapes. The most common species in these latitudes (Acer pseudosieboldianum), though it is not unusual to also find its better-known relative (Acer palmatum), native to a neighboring region. Both share a similar aesthetic, but with subtle nuances in shape and the timing of their color changes, making each encounter a distinct and valuable observation.

Well, we don't have Autumn or the four seasons here in Singapore so this one was taken a while back while I was in Seoul, South Korea.
Was heading up the short, inclined road towards Seoul Tower when I spotted this sole (no pun intended!) maple leaf lying on the tarmac road. The color of the leaf does stand out pretty well against the black, dull and rough road.

Buchholz & Buchholz Nursery: An upright deciduous tree with a full canopy. Green leaves are variegated with large amounts of cream white; fall color is orange to red. Prefers sun/partial shade in well-drained soil. 10' tall x 6' wide in 10 years. Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5.
Palmately lobed green leaves are have a creamy-white mottling. In autumn, the leaves have pink and orange-red tones. Strong growing, sun tolerant and good cold hardiness compared to classic Japanese maples. Removed dogwood in 2021 to give it more space.
Mottle is a pattern of irregular marks, spots, streaks, blotches or patches of different shades or colours.

Developed in Madison, Wisconsin, by Professor Emeritus Ed Hasselkus. Basically a Japanese Maple look-alike that survives in Zone 4. Deeply incised leaves emerge bronze, green in summer, then a bright orange-red to deep red color in fall. Upright that spreads when mature. Grown on own roots.

Buchholz & Buchholz Nursery: An upright deciduous tree with a full canopy. Green leaves are variegated with large amounts of cream white; fall color is orange to red. Prefers sun/partial shade in well-drained soil. 10' tall x 6' wide in 10 years. Hardy to -20 degrees. USDA zone 5.
Palmately lobed green leaves are have a creamy-white mottling. In autumn, the leaves have pink and orange-red tones. Strong growing, sun tolerant and good cold hardiness compared to classic Japanese maples. Removed dogwood in 2021 to give it more space.
Mottle is a pattern of irregular marks, spots, streaks, blotches or patches of different shades or colours.
