Road Trip U.S.A part 1 (Route 66)

Back in June/July 2010 I had the privilege of fulfilling my ambition to drive across America coast to coast (east to west) and back.

Beginning in Chicago after a short stop-over in New York City, we picked up our hire car and travelled the entire length of Route 66 to Santa Monica, taking in everything route 66 had to show us from the quirkiness of some of its citizens, to the breathtaking scenery.

The return trip (part two) started when we left San Francisco and headed back east, but with no specific timescale or route planned other than Route 50 (the loneliest road in America) and the long trip south to take in the north rim of the Grand Canyon.
