The Gemini Giant at the Launching Pad drive-in in Wilmington Illinois was our first real introduction to the Kitsch along route 66.
Relics of the sixties, these 25ft tall 'Muffler Men' so called because other giants across the country advertised a variety of objects from exhaust mufflers 'silencers to you and me' to axe's and hot dogs.
Now, few remain, but those that do help to draw in the crowds just as this one brought us to Wilmington.
To help with the scale, if the average man was to stand alongside the giant, he would be around the height of the giants knees. MUFFLER MEN
