Sunset on the Freight Main
Amtrak Train #1, the westbound Sunset Limited, rolls through the urban landscape at Sawyer Yards just west of Downtown Houston. The train here is on the Freight Main of UP's Houston Sub, an unusual sight given the Amtrak Station is on the Passenger Main, about a quarter mile to the south and a mile to the east of here.
The train is on the Freight Main today because #1 took the normally eastbound-only Beaumont Sub (former MP) to get to Houston, which doesn't allow direct access to the Houston depot. So at Chaney Jct ahead, #1 will throw it in reverse and shove back a mile & a half to make their station stop.
