Can You Have Cannabis During and After Pregnancy?

For a lot of #pregnancy #symptoms such as #nausea, increased #stress, and less #appetite, #cannabis may be the right answer.

But is too much cannabis a problem, especially during and after the delivery?

These #complications may not go away when the baby is born, since #postpartum #anxiety and depression, or even pain may happen too.

Is there harm in consuming this? What can you do to lower the risks? You’re about to find out.

Is there Risks to the Baby?

There are some women who use it, but the biggest limitation is whether or not it’s specifically for a strain, or if there are certain levels of THC. Right now, there is one study that is done, and that’s limited since it doesn’t represent everyone, nor does it get to be considered along with other drugs including #caffeine and #nicotine. It’s also difficult to look at the effects of cannabis in the birth and development of the child.

There are inconsistent studies as well with this.

Usually, the #CB1 receptors that THC does activate which causes the high aren’t’ even found in the #fetus until about 19 weeks or so.

In animal studies it was found within 15 minutes. That doesn’t mean the baby gets high automatically, but it’s something that in the third trimester it may cause a reaction since the brain is developing along with structures.

Still, the receptors can influence the brain cells and their development. The CB1 receptors do play a part in your brain development, and if you have too much #THC, it may cause problems.

Those who were born to cannabis mothers were lighter in body weight, ended up being premises, and usually were admitted more to the #ICO as a baby. However, there is no consistent study, so there are a variety of different effects.

What about diet?

Diet and lifestyle choices may impact the fetus, since if they don’t have as much choline in the body, they may get impacted by THC.

So if you’re eating eggs, meat, along with potatoes, it may not be a big issue.

In another study, it was found that the cannabis use was there, which may cause abnormalities, due to the higher #choline levels, they had better regulation, attention span, bonded and cuddled more.

So it may be better if you do have a lot of choline if you are going to consume THC.

Can it Affect Brain Use?

It really does depend.

Some studies have discovered that those children of parents that used cannabis tend to be more hyperactive, have less abstract reasoning, bad executive function, and also might be more #impulsive though.

Some also reported that it does cause nausea too in some cases.

Many are justifiably concerned though, but the thin is, there isn’t much controlled experiments as well. There is some correlation of this which may cause problems, so you should be mindful, but you can’t place blame on just the #cannabis, or just one specific thing.

There is some risk transitioning to higher CBD products, that’s mostly due to the long-term effects of this, since it does affect more than 65 different areas of the body and brain of the baby as well.

While the harm may not be consistent, you should be careful as well.

This also does impact secondhand marijuana smoketoo.

While it isn’t very impactful, it does build up over time, since THC and cannabinoids are more fat-soluble, so you can minimize this from ventilation.

Be mindful and smart when consuming cannabis while pregnant and choose for yourself whether you want to do this or not.
