I have always loved photography. In the early 1970s I shot exclusively in black and white, processing the images myself in a darkroom. A few years later I switched from B&W print photography to color slides, amassing a collection of several thousand slides covering a period of more than 30 years. Then, in April 2007, I finally made the switch to digital photography.
My #1 theme is flowers and plants, reflecting my training in botany and my love of nature and gardening. My #2 theme has always been travel photography, and therefore I have a substantial backlog of photos to digitize, taken in many countries – Colombia, Thailand, Spain, Italy, France, United Kingdom, Mexico, Canada, Japan, Ecuador, Switzerland, and of course the U.S. Little by little I hope to prepare some of the more interesting images for uploading to Flickr.
Professionally, I was a user interface designer for web-based software applications, now retired. Prior to 1999, I had an 18-year career designing educational computer software.
