About this Website
This blog is about My life as well as passion in Photography and Japanese Pop Culture (Otaku Culture).
Boring history about this website...
I started blogging back in year 2005 after my father subscribed for the 1 megabit Streamyx broadband. That was around 10 years back and 1 megabit is really something to brag about because it is the fastest available internet package available in the consumer market. Well, even if the whole market is technically monopolized by TM alone.
The blog was on Microsoft's blogging platform - MSN Spaces which later re-branded as Windows Live Spaces (WLS). It was around September 2005 when I uploaded the very first post. To be frank, I never had great experience in using the MSN Spaces as the WYSIWYG editor is practically unusable and I have to write all my blogpost via HTML. I believe that's how I get to learn all those HTML basics.
2 years later, I signed up for an account on Wordpress - JohnDiew0107.wordpress.com, after a friend introduced it to me by demonstrating the flexibility and user-friendliness. Despite that I had the Wordpress blog registered on August 2007, but due to sentimental reasons, I couldn't bring myself to move over. Windows Live Spaces lived on while I continue experimenting on the Wordpress for the coming 9 months before I finally close down my Windows Live Spaces and move over to Wordpress without migrating any data.
August 2010, I registered a domain - johndiew0107.com, with a local domain registrar company. At the same year, I started the blog link sharing project in order to create a much larger reader community. The programme helped to grow my site's readership up to 7000 unique clicks per month.
Just 1 year later, I decided to change the domain name to www.johndiew.com which is much easier to remember. At the same time, changing the domain name registrar and hosting services to GoDaddy due to better pricing and hosting specifications. Lesson learnt, always do thorough research before taking any action.
