en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Charles%27s_Church,_Vienna

The St. Charles's Church (German: Karlskirche) is a church situated on the south side of Karlsplatz, Vienna. It is located on the edge of the 1st district, 200 metres outside the Ringstraße. It is one of the most outstanding baroque church structures north of the Alps, and boasts a dome in the form of an elongated ellipsoid.

Ever since Karlsplatz was restored as an ensemble in the late 1980s, the Karlskirche has garnered fame due to its dome and its two flanking columns of bas-reliefs, as well as its role as an architectural counterweight to the buildings of the Musikverein and of the Vienna University of Technology.

The church is cared for by a religious order and has long been the parish church as well as the seat of the Catholic student ministry of the Vienna University of Technology.

It doesn’t look like much, but the building of the Yugoslav Ministry of Defence was considered to be a masterpiece of post-war architecture. Today, the building is better known as one of the most famous ruins of Yugoslavian history, and we went there to take a look at this vital piece of recent history.

The Yugoslav Ministry of Defence building was also known as the Yugoslav General Staff complex, was a building occupied by the Ministry of Defence of Yugoslavia, and it was responsible for internal and external military threats. Back in 1999, it was bombed and heavily damaged during the NATO bombing of Belgrade, as you can see in the pictures we took there.

I was a teenager when the bombings happened. Still, I remember watching the news with my family and learning what I could about what was happening in former Yugoslavian countries at that time. I remember reading about the Kosovo conflict and how Serbia and the North Atlantic Council were dealing with it. But I was a student in Brazil at the time, and everything seemed to be from a completely different world to me. This feeling changed when I stood on a sidewalk in Belgrade and looked at what happened in April 1999.

1914? Olds Type A 4.5hp Hit-and-Miss gasoline engine. Built by the Seager Engine Works in Lansing, Michigan.

A collection can't just stop at one. So I brought home another engine. And wow! What an awesome engine to have.

This one belonged to Grandfather for many years. Several years ago he passed it on to my Uncle Terry. And now the Olds has been passed down to me. I don't consider myself the owner of this engine as much as I am nearly the caretaker of a family heirloom until it's time to pass it on to the next in line.

Even though the brass nameplate is missing I've been able to glean a bit of info and history for this engine. This engine was originally used in a machine shop in Glenn Allen, Virginia to power the shop tools. Most likely belted up to a line shaft. Stamped on one of the flywheels by the shop is some information.

The engine has been in storage since 2009 when it was last run. Unlike my little Economy this engine will take a little more work to get up and running again but hopefully not to much. The battery box needs to be rebuilt as the wood is throughly rotted and the wood for the tongue hitch needs replaced as well. The engine was restored previously at some point and the pant on it and the cart is not too bad, only a few minor chips and some surface rust in a few areas. I plan to get it running first before deciding how deep to dig into any restoration.

Founded in 1998 in Puerto Rico, the sole mission of Yuba Iré is to interpret the diverse folkloric music of the Afro-Caribbean. And while the core of the material on ¡Esta Es Mi Rumba! is clearly rumba and folklore Cubana (guaguancó, yambú, columbia, palo), their repertoire does cast a wider net by encompassing the folklore of Puerto Rico and elsewhere. Sicá, yubá, cuembé, holandé, seis corridos as well as la plena, güiro, bembé, abakuá and comparsa are performed at their live performances as well. Directed by percussionist Hector Calderón Torres, Yubá Iré is also made up of Diego Centeno, Jose Camara, Victor Emmanuelli, Edgardo Hernandez, David Atanasio, Paoli Mejias, Felipe Del Valle, Samuel Gascot and others. With clarity of vision and a soul of fire, Taller Folklorico Yubá Iré walks a path that is inhabited by the spirit of by Yoruba Andabo, Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, Grupo Afro Cuba, Paracumbé and the Familia Cepeda. Pretty good company.

Compañero,

usted sabe

que puede contar conmigo,

no hasta dos ni hasta diez

sino contar conmigo.

Si algunas veces

advierte

que lo miro a los ojos,

y una veta de amor

reconoce en los míos,

no alerte sus fusiles

ni piense que deliro;

a pesar de la veta,

o tal vez porque existe,

usted puede contar

conmigo.

Si otras veces

me encuentra

huraña sin motivo,

no piense que es flojera

igual puede contar conmigo.

Pero hagamos un trato:

nada definitivo

yo quisiera contar con usted,

es tan lindo

saber que usted existe,

una se siente viva;

y cuando digo esto

quiero decir contar

aunque sea hasta dos,

aunque sea hasta cinco.

No ya para que acuda

presuroso en mi auxilio,

sino para saber

a ciencia cierta

que usted sabe que puede

contar conmigo.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiraea

Spiraea (Meadowsweet) is a genus of about 80-100 species of shrubs in the Rosaceae, subfamily Spiraeoideae. They are native to the temperate Northern Hemisphere, with the greatest diversity in eastern Asia.

Spiraea species are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Brown-tail, Emperor Moth, Grey Dagger, Hypercompe indecisa and Setaceous Hebrew Character.

The genus was formerly treated as also containing the herbaceous species now segregated into the genera Filipendula and Aruncus; recent genetic evidence has shown that Filipendula is only distantly related to Spiraea, belonging in the subfamily Rosoideae.

Spiraea (also known as Meadowsweet) is too woody to be used as an edible plant, but has a long history of medicinal use by Native Americans as an herbal tea. The entire plant contains Methyl Salicylate and other salicylates, compounds with similar medicinal properties of aspirin. Unlike other salicylate-bearing plants such as Willow or Poplar, Meadowsweet's content of these analgesic compounds remain consistent from plant to plant. Unlike aspirin, Meadowsweet is effective in treating stomach disorders in minute amounts. The salicylates in this plant are a highly effective analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and fever reducer, without the side affects attributed to aspirin. Compounds in this plant also contain bacteriostatic properties, and the tea of this plant was used by the Blackfeet Indians as an enema and vagina douche to treat infections of the bowels and vaginal area. [1]

In pure form, methyl salicylate is toxic, especially when taken internally. The lowest published lethal dose is 101 mg/kg body weight in adult humans.[2] It has proven fatal to small children in doses as small as 4 mL.[3] A 17 year-old cross-country runner at Notre Dame Academy on Staten Island, died April 3, 2007, after her body absorbed high levels of methyl salicylate through excessive use of topical muscle-pain relief products.[4] Methyl Salicylate is used as a rubefacient in deep heating liniments, and in small amounts as a flavoring agent in chewing gums and other products at no more than 0.04%.[5]

goo.gl/fkT3PZ - SPECTACULAR EYE-CATCHING DECORATIVE WALL SCREEN

We would like to introduce you to Facet, our room divider screen. We are very proud of this wonderful piece of design furniture. It is delicate yet sturdy, light yet spectacular. And it is incredibly versatile. It can be used in a private home, hotel, restaurant or office. It looks similarly stunning used as a small room divider as it does as a large decorative wall screen. Just take a look at these beautiful pictures! Mesmerizing, isn’t it?

Using Facet as a decorative wall screen gives you so much more possibilities than building a solid wall. It is slightly transparent, which means you won’t lose natural light on either side of the screen. It does not take up as much space as a brick wall. And it already is a gorgeous piece of decoration.

As you can see, Facet is made of several separate diamond-shaped pieces. These pieces can be turned around, which makes it possible for you to adjust the amount of light it lets through. You can decide on the amount of privacy it gives and change the pattern slightly to make your decorative wall screen personal and unique.

EFFORTLESSLY CREATE A DECORATIVE WALL SCREEN

We have put a lot of thought and effort into the creation of Facet, so that you don’t have to. It can be made in any size. It doesn’t matter if you have very high ceilings or an oddly shaped room – Facet can be made to fit perfectly. Seeing as Facet is made to order, it is no problem to make it into a large decorative wall screen. You just give us the dimensions and we will start assembling it right away! The intricate pattern becomes a striking piece of art when used to form a wall between two large spaces.

Its smart ceiling attachments mean that attaching does not take very long at all. The hanging room divider wall screen can also be attached to any type of ceiling. You don’t have to change anything about your place, Facet will be made to fit what you already have.

The decorative wall screen seen in the pictures is installed in the lovely 4-star Sheraton Hotel in Barcelona, Spain. Our client wanted to offer their guests some privacy when dining at their restaurant, but did not want to lose the open character of the interior. Facet formed the perfect solution to divide the lounge and restaurant area while keeping the openness and light feeling intact. In addition to that, it adds something exquisite to the interior decoration.

After hours upon hours of editing up photos for a wedding I just shot I figured I'd do something else.

In the footsteps of the Inca's, Peru - Grand tour 2010.

A holiday that stood for while in the balance as heavy rainfall washed away the access railway to Machu Picchu.

Twoo before the holiday the volcano on Iceland erupted and airtravel was suspended.

We were on the second flight out to Lima after the airspace was cleared.

Day 1 in Lima started off with Citytour including Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral and Miraflores beach.

For the evening we made an additional visit to The Magic Water tour at Parque de Reserva. The Park is currently the world record holder for the largest fountain complex in the world, consisting of 13 distinct fountains, many of which are interactive.

Day 2 Leaving Lima for a Ballestas Islands with its birds, Penguin and seal Colonies.

Total contrast was our next visit to Ica . stopover at the Oasis of Huacachina. A Blue lagoon surrounded by huge desert sand dunes.

The days ends near Nazca, were we could some of the famous Nazca Lines from a watch tower.

Day 3 Started with a flight over the difficult to spot Nazca Lines . The afternoon was spent at the Chauchilla ancient Inca Cemetry.

Day 4 . Long scenic drive from Nazca to Arequipa
