The idea of the zine was to play with the imperfection of the xerox process, using geometric shapes to comunicate that. The word "quase" means "almost".

The folks over at Never Press and I have been working together to produce a new zine with sample of my brand new work. It will be an over-sized publication, printed with a Risograph press and hand sewn binding. I am so thrilled I had to share a sample page!

日本的「zine」人物
瑞士的Nieves並非唯一發行zine的出版商，在世界上其他地方，也有一些個人自資出版的zine，比方由瑞典製片人編集的zine系列，大體上便是與Nieves同時進行著；不過雖說是個人的zine，但卻找來了不少名人參與，甚還包括了日本的後藤繁雄先生。
來自全世界的zine逐漸變成大家所悉的名詞，成為平日的話題喲，能夠因此都是托Nieves的福；至於作者是否來自日本或歐美就顯得不再那麼重要，畢竟zine的存在本身，就具有相當大的意義，原先只是做為個人的小冊子，不知不覺地改變了編集的形式，最後竟成了一本私雜誌，這樣子的做法比起傳統雜誌來說不但容易許多，且步調也剛好，一個月啦或者二個月出這樣的小系列一次，對全世界的人們持續帶來各種影響。
瑞典製片人所發行的那本zine，事實上也並非盡是名人啦，其比重大約只佔內容的一成左右，但光靠那一成便吸引了不少讀者，其餘九成雖是普通人的作品，但看上去也相當有趣，這就是策略，非常聰明唷。在日本也有像這樣子的雜誌，那就是「here and there」。

大学卒業後，進入資生堂，擔任老牌PR誌「花椿」編集的林央子，在退職無所屬後，一手催生了「here and there」這本視點前衛的時尚雜誌，與「流行通信」、「裝苑」的美術AD服部一成共同合作，展現了抗拒潮流的自主姿態，掀起了一波流行雜誌的變革。特集"UNEXPECTED TRAVELING"，刊載了與生後兩個月的小寶寶一同從巴黎至印度的寫真旅行，並登出女性藝術家，長島有里枝母子倆人的照片，加上「Purple」雜誌編集長以「被樹圍繞的巴黎街道」為發想的，人們所進行的有形或無形的旅行。
因受到母親早年訂閱「暮らしの手帖」與「家庭画報」的影響，使林央子成為一個標準的女性雜誌讀者，但做為工作開始產生具體認知的，則是在大学卒業以後。經人介紹而進入「花椿」。最初是擔任編集助理一職，負責處理日常性的瑣碎庶務。由於本身對雜誌的熱愛，因此儘管遭遇許多挫折也都甘願接受，不過也多虧了先輩的嚴厲，讓林央子紮實地習得了編集一本刊物的洗練技術。
由於時常接觸來自巴黎的第一手信息，使林央子心中萌生遠赴歐洲的念頭，此時的她，對編集事務已日漸上手，不但能在會議上提出成功的企画，同時也獲得許多獨自採訪的機會，然而想要出國的心情卻愈來愈強烈，於是，在九二年時終於親自抵達了花都巴黎，展開了一段眼界大開，思想解放的旅程。
在流行的世界裡，紐約和巴黎和倫敦、米蘭是不分地域的，全部連接著。對處於這世界的人們來說，有所謂「成功的法則」這觀念，新人最先在倫敦嘗試實驗性的做法，接著透過巴黎的方式被介紹，在那兒成功了的人則取得前往紐約的登台入場券，就連攝影記者和造型師基本上也都是那樣連接著。在倫敦不計酬勞為「i-D」拍攝流行照片的人，明天便成為紐約的權威攝影師。在現實中的確有那樣的故事。但是，日本卻完全沒進入那個世界。
在當時巴黎的書店架上，連一本以日本為主的流行雜誌都沒有，與世界尚未產生連接。但是，也因為如此，對林央子來說正是一個機會，其實日本是一個雜誌王國喲，她那時候還拼命試圖告訴其他人。
「花椿」是一個恪守傳統的媒體，譬如這個頁面，這個視覺應該是這樣，文章是這樣，表現的形式被傳統決定，因為是非常有歷史的雜誌。不過，林央子認為，世界上各種各樣新鮮的事物無論在形式上也好，在語言上也好，都應該有更多自由的表現法才是；於是，毅然地自「花椿」退職，與仲條正義的後輩服部一成兩人開始著手編製「here and there」的創刊號。
因為最初就打定主意無論如何都要達成，以致於往往必須等到前期回收才能為續，以一年一本的週期發行著；真的是全無計劃，製作第三期時還一度因為懷胎，而以說不定最後一期的心情製作，第四期則想確實證明孩子出世之後，還擁有自己的生活而完成。一開始原想全部自己來；不過，也明白了編集以外的廣告宣傳、通路發行等工作仍得端賴其他人，總有一個人完成不了的事。
2006年的1月下旬，香港的「RMM」雜誌刊出了林央子的專訪，連同草間彌生與柳美和年輕時代的插圖書信，以各自10頁左右的特集篇幅，來介紹跨世代日本女性創作者的生活方式。「here and there」這本雜誌獲得了世界注目，被紐約出版社所發行的雜誌專書所收錄，其後並成為Nieves旗下的海外代理雜誌之一，向全世界發信流通著。

I like when photography becomes tangible. So I printed a few copies of this lo-fi zine. Maybe one day the paper will be crumpled, aged, and the photos faded. And the zine will look even better.
