Surface brightness profile of comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner 2018-Aug-24 09:41:13 UTC derived from radial profile measurements using the Aperture Photometry Tool (APT).
comparison plots for 1/r and 1/r^1.5 The inner coma shows a 1/r profile which gradually increases in slope typical of many comets. The coma signal gets noisy out at 3 to 4 x radialProfileFWHM as it approaches sky background.
