On the way down the slopes, if you can brake in a narrow corridor, then your allow to take a picture of this view of the city.
What's also quite neat is that you can ski down directly to the entry of the apparment, that's luxury ;)

Zermatt at night....
I've just returned from an amazing (and tiring!) week in Zermatt, Switzerland. The small town sits at the foot of the beautiful Matterhorn, as pictured here at night. Lots more pictures to come!
Thanks for looking, always very much appreciated.

I welcome constructive feedback but prefer no banners / awards, thanks.
L'inconfondibile piramide del Cervino si staglia contro il cielo e domina la cittadina. E' una vecchia foto (estate 1990). Oggi Zermatt è molto più costruita.

The Gornergrat (3,135 m) is a rocky ridge of the Pennine Alps, overlooking the Gorner Glacier south of Zermatt in Switzerland. It can be reached from Zermatt by the Gornergrat rack railway, the highest open-air railway in Europe.

We don’t usually set much store by a room with a view, on the theory that we’re not going to be using the room for anything but sleeping. But this one sure proved us wrong! Woke up before the alarm at first light, and this was the sight that greeted me outside the window. Out on the balcony in my pajamas in the chill mountain air …
The Matterhorn (/ˈmætərhɔːrn/,[3][4] German: [ˈmatərˌhɔrn]; Italian: Cervino [tʃerˈviːno]; French: Cervin [sɛʁvɛ̃]) is a mountain of the Alps, straddling the main watershed and border between Switzerland and Italy. It is a large, near-symmetrical pyramidal peak in the extended Monte Rosa area of the Pennine Alps, whose summit is 4,478 metres (14,692 ft) high, making it one of the highest summits in the Alps and Europe.[note 3] The four steep faces, rising above the surrounding glaciers, face the four compass points and are split by the Hörnli, Furggen, Leone/Lion, and Zmutt ridges. The mountain overlooks the Swiss town of Zermatt, in the canton of Valais, to the north-east and the Italian town of Breuil-Cervinia in the Aosta Valley to the south. Just east of the Matterhorn is Theodul Pass, the main passage between the two valleys on its north and south sides, and a trade route since the Roman Era.
**My FIRST sight of the Matterhorn at the bottom of the cable car station, not seen entirely, with some clouds covering it, see below
Zermatt, in southern Switzerland’s Valais canton, is a mountain resort renowned for skiing, climbing and hiking. The town, at an elevation of around 1,600m, lies below the iconic, pyramid-shaped Matterhorn peak. Its main street, Bahnhofstrasse is lined with boutique shops, hotels and restaurants, and also has a lively après-ski scene. There are public outdoor rinks for ice-skating and curling.

Zermatt is a completely pedestrian city, and one of the most beautiful in the Alps, with traditional mountain huts that house luxury accommodations. Gastronomy is one of the strong points of the season. Some of the most prestigious chefs in Switzerland have their mark there. After dinner, the night of Zermatt will surprise you with a handful of pubs to have a drink and listen to live music.
Switzerland is the land of eternal youth. Since the nineteenth century, tycoons and artists around the world have flocked there in search of the most revolutionary treatments against time. In Zermatt, where most of the hotels have their own space of hydrothermal waters, there is an entire universe dedicated to pamper your body and mind with products like rose petals, orange, grape, chocolate or pine. If you go for romantic getaway, reserve about 300 € a private spa for two, including body and facial massage, shiatsu, sauna steam bath of milk and honey and a glass of champagne.
