স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রাম ভাস্কর্যটি বাঙালি জাতির গৌরবোজ্জ্বল সংগ্রামের ইতিহাসকে ধারণ করে নির্মিত বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে বড় ভাস্কর্য। শামীম শিকদার এই ভাস্কর্যটি নির্মাণ করেন। ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ফুলার রোডে সলিমুল্লাহ হল, জগন্নাথ হল ও বুয়েট সংলগ্ন সড়ক দ্বীপে বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাসের ধারক স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রাম ভাস্কর্যটি স্থাপিত।

ইতিহাস

ভাস্কর শামীম শিকদার ১৯৮৮ সালে ফুলার রোডে অবস্থিত সেকেলে বাংলো স্টাইলের বাড়ির (বর্তমানে প্রোভিসির ভবন) সামনে পরিত্যক্ত জায়গায় ‘অমর একুশে’ নামে একটি বিশাল ভাস্কর্য নির্মাণ শুরু করেন। ১৯৯০ সালের ফেব্রুয়ারিতে এক ঘরোয়া পরিবেশে প্রয়াত অধ্যাপক আহমদ শরীফ এটি উদ্বোধন করেন। ১৯৯৮ সালে ওই স্থানে উদয়ন স্কুলের নতুন ভবন নির্মাণ শুরু হলে ভাস্কর্যটি স্থানান্তরের প্রয়োজন হয়। ভাস্কর্যটি সড়কদ্বীপে এনে রাখা হয়। পরে ভাস্কর শামীম শিকদার ওই ভাস্কর্যটির অবয়ব পরিবর্তন ও পরিবর্ধন করে ‘স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রাম’ নাম দিয়ে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের ইতিহাসের আলোকে নতুনভাবে নির্মাণ করেন। একইসঙ্গে সড়ক দ্বীপটিকেও তিনি নিজের মনের মতো গড়ে তোলেন। ১৯৯৯ সালের ৭ মার্চ তৎকালীন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা এটি উদ্বোধন করেন।

স্থাপত্য তাৎপর্য

"স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রাম" ভাস্কর্যটি বাঙালি জাতির গৌরবোজ্জ্বল সংগ্রামের ইতিহাসকে ধারণ করে নির্মিত। এ ভাস্কর্যটি মহান ভাষা অন্দোলন থেকে শুরু করে ৬৬-র স্বাধিকার আন্দোলন, ৬৯-এর গণঅভ্যুত্থান, ৭১-এর ৭ই মার্চ বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামের আহ্বান, ২৫শে মার্চের কালরাত্রি, ২৬শে মার্চ বঙ্গবন্ধু কর্তৃক স্বাধীনতা ঘোষণা, ১৬ ডিসেম্বর চূড়ান্ত বিজয় অর্জনের বিষয় তুলে ধরা হয়েছে। প্রতিটি আন্দোলনে নিহত হয়েছেন এমন ১৮ জন শহীদের মুখাবয়ব দিয়ে পুরো ভাস্কর্য নির্মিত। সবার নিচে ভাষা শহীদের ভাস্কর্য এবং সবার উপরে বঙ্গবন্ধুর ভাস্কর্য। এ ভাস্কর্যে আরো তুলে ধরা হয়েছে লক্ষ প্রাণের বিনিময়ে অর্জিত স্বাধীনতার প্রতীক আমাদের লাল সবুজের পতাকা।

স্থাপত্য বর্ণনা

মূল ভাস্কর্য স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামকে ঘিরে রয়েছে দেশ-বিদেশের শতাধিক কবি, সাহিত্যিক, শিক্ষাবিদ, সমাজ সংস্কারক, বিপ্লবী, রাজনীতিক, বিজ্ঞানীর আবক্ষ মোট ১১৬টি ভাস্কর্য। এসব ভাস্কর্যের কোনোটি একক, কোনোটি যুক্ত। এর সবগুলোই শামীম সিকদারের গড়া। কারো কারো ভাস্কর্য অপূর্ব ভঙ্গিমায় উপস্থাপিত। এখানে বঙ্কিমচন্দ্র, ঈশ্বরচন্দ্র বিদ্যাসাগর, জগদীশ চন্দ্র বসু, মাইকেল মধুসুদন, রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর, লালন, কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম, সুকান্ত ভট্টাচার্য, ড. মোঃ শহীদুল্লাহ, শিল্পী সুলতান, জিসি দেব, সুভাসচন্দ্র বসু, কামাল আতাতুর্ক, মহাত্মা গান্ধী, রাজা রামমোহন রায়, মাও সে তুং, ইয়াসির আরাফাত, কর্ণেল ওসমানী, তাজউদ্দিন আহমেদ, সিরাজ সিকদার প্রমুখের প্রতিকৃতি রয়েছে। ভাস্কর শামীম সিকদারেরও দুটি প্রতিকৃতি রয়েছে। আরও রয়েছে একটি হাতির চিত্তাকর্ষক ভাস্কর্য।

Squirrel (কাঠবিড়ালী) slender-bodied, mostly arboreal mammals with a long bushy tail, of the family Sciuridae, order Rodentia. Squirrels are amongst the most widespread of mammals, occupying every continent except Australasia and Antarctica. Some of the tropical squirrels have stripes and patches of black and white. Most have large eyes and keen sight, with a remarkable capacity to judge distances between tree branches.

কাঠবিড়ালী (Squirrel) Rodentia বর্গের Sciuridae গোত্রের প্রধানত বৃক্ষবাসী স্তন্যপায়ী। শরীর লম্বাটে, লেজ লম্বা ও ঝোপালো। কাঠবিড়ালী বহুদৃষ্ট স্তন্যপায়ীর অন্যতম। অস্ট্রেলিয়া ও কুমেরু ছাড়া পৃথিবীর সর্বত্র আছে। উষ্ণমন্ডলীয় কিছু কাঠবিড়ালীর শরীরে কালো ও সাদা ডোরা থাকে। অনেকেরই চোখ বড়, দৃষ্টিশক্তি তীক্ষ্ম এবং আছে ডালপালার মধ্যেকার দূরত্ব মাপার মতো প্রখর বোধশক্তি। এদের সামনের পা খাটো, পায়ের আঙুলে ধারালো নখ, তা দিয়ে বৃক্ষবাসী প্রজাতিরা স্বচ্ছন্দে গাছে ওঠানামা করে। পেছনের লম্বা পা লাফ দেওয়ার প্রয়োজনীয় সম্মুখগতি যোগায়।

উড়ুক্কু কাঠবিড়ালীর আছে দেহের দুপাশে পেছনের পা থেকে সামনের পা পর্যন্ত ছড়ানো ও কব্জিতে যুক্ত লোমশ চামড়া। হাত-পা ছড়িয়ে এরা শরীরের উপরিতলের আয়তন বাড়িয়ে লেজকে হাল হিসেবে ব্যবহার করে এক গাছ থেকে অন্য গাছে পৌঁছতে পারে। অন্য সময় দৌড় বা গাছে ওঠায় অসুবিধা এড়াতে এটি গুটিয়ে রাখে। উড়ুক্কু কাঠবিড়ালী সাধারণ কাঠবিড়ালীর তুলনায় কম চটপটে। গোটা বিশ্বের কাঠবিড়ালী প্রজাতি সংখ্যা ২৭০, বাংলাদেশে রয়েছে ৮ প্রজাতি।

The drongos are a family, Dicruridae, of passerine birds of the Old World tropics. The 30 species in the family are placed in a single genus, Dicrurus. বুলুবুল / বুলবুলি / The Red-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus Cafer)

The Red-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer) is a small passerine bird found in Bangladesh and other parts of the Indian subcontinent.

This bird has a distinctive red patch beneath its tail, which is visible when it flies or spreads its tail feathers. Its upperparts are brownish-grey, and its underparts are whitish-grey. It has a crest on its head, and a black mask-like patch around its eyes.

Red-vented Bulbuls are commonly found in gardens, parks, and wooded areas in urban and rural areas of Bangladesh. They feed on a variety of fruits, nectar, and insects. They are known for their melodious calls, and often form large flocks that can be quite noisy.

Sometimes it's used to clean dirty water but needs careful handling to prevent it from taking over water bodies.
