Not the prettiest of buildings in Zadar old town, but photographically interesting...

This was one of many stray cats that we met during our time in Zadar. It was happily amusing itself trying to catch the plastic tape attached to the pole.

A lot of cats have been 'adopted' by the restaurants - or perhaps it's the other way round! These seem to thrive with guests, like us, giving them morsels from our meals to eat. Others appear to be doing OK too... We regularly saw a lady on her bicycle, laden with both wet and dry food that she dished out to individual cats every night. I also bought and handed out Dreamies (our cat's absolute favourite treat) to any cat that looked like it needed a little extra!

Zadar, Croatia

One of the most intriguing things about Zadar is the way Roman ruins seem to sprout randomly from the city's streets. Nowhere is this more evident than at the site of the ancient Forum, constructed between the 1st century BC and the 3rd century AD. As in Roman times, it's the centre of civic and religious life.

Tus hijos no son tus hijos

son hijos e hijas de la vida

deseosa de si misma.

No vienen de ti, sino a través de ti

y aunque estén contigo

no te pertenecen.

Puedes darles tu amor,

The Church of St Donatus

is a church located in Zadar, Croatia.

Its name refers to Donatus of Zadar, who began construction on this church in the 9th century and ended it on the northeastern part of the Roman forum.

Originally named Church of the Holy Trinity, in the 15th century it was re-dedicated to St Donatus.

The church is the largest Pre-Romanesque building in Croatia.

It is also an example of the centralised type of the Carolingian period in Europe.
