I first read such a thing at ChipM2008
and enjoyed his frankness so much I felt it would be great to read such things of everyone I ''know'' so here goes:-
1. I was born in small Welsh village that has been continuously inhabited for 4000 years.
2. I learnt to build walls after leaving school and for the last eight years I've been a film maker. In between I've exhibited paintings in Wales, Cornwall, and Brittany and have prints in collections from New England to New South Wales.
3. I grew up attached to my two brothers and surrounded by cousins and we learnt together. How to catch bwmbis, tickle trout and bag eels. How to build dens from earth or fern or stone. How to ride horses that no one owned. Know where to find wild strawberries, the tastiest peggy fivers from the hazel tree, eat and drink wood sorrel and the stems of knot weed and how to steer clear of the banshee of Mynydd Meio.
4. I don't believe in the god everyone gets so exited about. I think Christ was probably a beautiful person who has been very misunderstood and more than likely mis-quoted.
5. I saw the Dalai Lama speak 10 years ago, he made sense of everything and laughed a lot in the process.
6. My first album was Abbey Road by The Beatles bought with the assistance of my older brother and the proceeds of my paper round for £1.75. It had just come out. I listened to it today, it's still great.My first single was coco's the queen of dancin' by The Sweet. I don't listen to it anymore.
7. I play Bach's cello suites at full blast in the car.
8. I love people and stories and at the same time I love to wander around on mountains alone, especially in the rain. Being Welsh you either love the rain or get a dna test.
9. I am as happy now as I was 40 years ago when I was seven. There have been many ups and downs in the middle but I feel it's a great achievement to have recaptured the spirit of childhood.
10. I've loved jackdaws ever since I can remember anything.
11. If you have a dog you'll always have to go for a walk and then you'll never forget what it's like to be. That is unless you start moaning about the rain, then you'll have to go get that dna test. You may be surprised to discover that about half of you will have some indo celtic routes and so, welcome, enjoy the rain, your technically Welsh. Or, enjoy the rain and join he club, no indo-celtic routes required.
12. Not that I'm a patriot, or a nationalist. I feel all that stuffs a slim step away from fascism. No the welsh thing's a fun fact. The Welsh were so named by the English. It means outsider or foreigner so when you start digging into this nationalism stuff you discover it's all rather flawed.
13. When I was small I had glandular fever a lot and my grandmother told me stories of the bwbach and other little folk. This part of the world is riddled with such ancient tales, of giants and banshees and raven goddesses I've just finished writing and illustrating a book on the subject which will be available at an internet shop near you within the next few weeks.
14. I'm from a very big family ( my father was one of 13, my mother one of 6) and when we get together I realise how important that has been in shaping my character.
15.Being a father IS all it's cracked up to be.
16. Being happily married makes it easy to remember how happy you were as a child.

A lino cut I did some years ago of the most sinister legend attached to the village where I grew up.
