The weather up until this point had been pretty miserable but it had taken a turn and (most notably) the wind had dropped right off to almost nothing.
It was getting late and was well past dark when Trent, Jake and I decided to go for a walk down by the lake to check if there was an astro shot to be had.
As we rounded a corner by a tree Jake stopped with a gasp “Puma”.
“What man?”
“It’s a f$#%king puma”
“A Puma?”
“Yes, a Puma!”
In a frenzy of fear and excitement the next thing I knew we were scurrying around the trees looking for our Puma.
It didn’t take long before we were exchanging ‘WTF’ looks with our big cat and scrambling to get a photo of its backside as it wandered off into the dark.
So – our validation was in, we were indeed in the wild.
A few hours later and we were back in the dark, on the edge of Salto Grande with the moonlight reminding us that, here, you really are in the wild.

June 2021 I will participate in Alpe d'HuZes. I will try to climb the Alpe d'Huez 6 times by bike. This is to get as much money and attention as possible for more research into cancer.
