My first sighting of a Cheetah in nearly 3 years. I was the second or third person to enter the Reserve at Phalaborwa this morning and the first one at this particular spot where I came across a mother and her two youngsters. The early bird catches the worm, they say.
Young badger at The Pixies.
As I was watching new father, the great spotted woodpecker, feeding his first born, this little guy snuffled along the burn (stream) and began helping himself to the scattered peanuts. I can only assume the noise of the water disguised my footsteps, as I was about a foot away from him, just after this was taken. Eyesight is not great, and the breeze must have been behind him, I suppose. Consequently, I spent about ten minutes in his immediate vicinity, watching and photographing him. It was lovely! I feel so blessed and lucky to have these guys nearby.

I know there is a shortage of insects, which is very worrying, but this only hit home to me after I returned from a 830 mile journey, and there was hardly an insect on the windscreen or bumper...Years ago had to stop after twenty miles to clean them off...I'll let you draw your own conclusions as to why this is happening.
There was a family at my friend's grape jelly feeders last summer ...this being the adult female waiting patiently for those pushy youngsters to get their fill. Papa oriole had to wait until they were all finished as collectively they made him unwelcome!
'What you have to do for your family'...lol.
Well, we're at home a lot just like you all are...if anything unusual going on with you, in your community please let me know....here, in the thread or a private message if you want.
Love you, flickr friends, wishing the best for you....Pat...xo
Keep yourselves healthy!♥ Knock on wood, we are so far.
Two new Sand Hill Cranes
From Cornell Ornithology Lab:
... some start breeding at two years of age, (some) may reach the age of seven before breeding. They mate for life—which can mean two decades or more—and stay with their mates year-round. Juveniles stick close by their parents for 9 or 10 months after hatching.
The earliest Sandhill Crane fossil, estimated to be 2.5 million years old, was unearthed in the Macasphalt Shell Pit in Florida.
Sandhill Crane chicks can leave the nest within 8 hours of hatching, and are even capable of swimming.
Spotted (no pun intended) this young American robin in one of the cherry trees, enjoying a sweet meal.
I spotted this juvenile dark-eyed/Oregon junco working the trees in search of a snack. Great to see these youngsters getting bigger!
A pair of goslings was accompanying their parents in Tom McCall Waterfront Park while I was on my walk. I think they're so cute at this age!
Wanting to bring awareness of the beauty of these magnificent birds, who are still under threat because of our lack of care and stewardship or our environment.
With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️
Along with our 4 adult buddies we now have 3 youngsters. They aren't ready to make friends with me yet and I can't tell if they are male or female. Gosh, they are so sweet!

An American Coot (Fulica americana) young perches on a floating cattail stalk in a wetland to the west of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
There is something about a young coot's colours that sets it apart from other young waterbirds.
If you look closely on the end of the upper bill near the black tip, you will see a tiny white bump. This is called the egg tooth which it uses to scar the inside of the egg in a circular pattern which enables it to crack the egg open to hatch.
