My home town, too often unappreciated.

Image 50 in this series of the capturing of the BULB capture. Here it is of the pretty morning in York, Maine. The LCD screen is photoshopped in from the capture being taken at this time.

This is also the same set-up that I shot the "test" shot at higher ISO for 16 seconds that was the "Nubble Bubbles" shot posted earlier this day. That shot set up the one in the photo here that was for several minutes at ISO 100.

Canal & Broadway, counterfeit bags seller,

The Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of Saint Peter in York, commonly known as York Minster, is the cathedral of York, England, and is one of the largest of its kind in Northern Europe. ,

The Hospitium was built as part of St Mary’s Abbey in the medieval period. The name Hospitium (related to hospitality) suggests that the building was used for housing guests such as merchants who were not allowed to stay in the main abbey with the monks.

The stone ground floor mostly dates to the 1300s with the water gate arch added around 1500.

Since the dissolution of the abbey the Hospitium has gone through numerous stages of reuse, disrepair and renovation. It is now part of the Yorkshire Museum in York, England

60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' is seen with working a train that I'm not sure it's namesake designed it for! Pictured at York on 20th April 1960 working a southbound oil train.

This photo was taken just over a year after 60007 had set the post-war speed record for steam (which it still holds to this day), it'd be lucky to reach half that speed on this working!

YORK Town, Western Australia.

(Wikipedia)

York is the oldest inland town in Western Australia, situated on the Avon River, 98 kilometres (61 mi) east of Perth in the Wheatbelt, on Ballardong Nyoongar land, and is the seat of the Shire of York.

The name of the region was suggested by JS Clarkson during an expedition in October 1830 because of its similarity to his own county in England, Yorkshire.

After thousands of years of occupation by Ballardong Nyoongar people, the area was first settled by Europeans in 1831, two years after Perth was settled in 1829. A town was established in 1835 with the release of town allotments and the first buildings were erected in 1836.

The region was important throughout the 19th century for sheep and grain farming, sandalwood, cattle, goats, pigs and horse breeding.

York boomed during the gold rush as it was one of the last rail stops before the walk to the goldfields.

Today, the town attracts tourists for its beauty, history, buildings, festivals and art.
