The Journey
One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice--
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.

In the center of Modena, where the Duomo di Modena (aka "Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta e San Geminiano") is placed, churches have existed since the 5th century. After the burial site of Modena's patron Saint Geminianus, a former bishop (+397), was dicovered here, the existing cathedral seemed to small.
The first stone laying for the cathedral of today took place in May 1099, strongly supported by Matilde di Canossa (aka "Matilda of Tuscany"). First architect was Master Lanfranco, descibed as "maestro ingenio clarus [...] doctus et aptus".
The Duomo di Modena was consecrated in 1184, but the building process continued. It was finally completed in 1322.
Many renowned sculptors have worked here.
Many of the works, that once embellished the outside wall of the cathedral have suffered from weathering. They have been replaced by copies. The original carvings can now be seen in the "Lapidarium" of the Museo del Duomo, neighbouring the cathedral. It is very interesting to see them from a close distance.
To the left is a very relaxed yoga guru doing his morning stretch. To the right is a kind of mermaid. Yes, she does have feet, but as well fins.
These sculptures are attributed to the "Master of the Metopes", who may habe been a student an follower of Wiligelmo. Scholars see influences of the 12th century art in Burgundy in his works.

For women menopause and post menopause, hormonal changes play havoc with the body. Decrease in the production of estrogen leads to a lot of health issues for women. Osteoporosis, increased heart health risks, depression, risk to cancers, hot flashes are all linked to declining estrogen levels. During this time foods high in fiber and more plant based foods should be consumed. Food sources that are rich in calcium, magnesium and vitamins D and K should be included in the diet to maintain bone health.
Avoid foods containing phosphorous like aerated drinks, processed foods as they affect the integrity of the bone and lead to faster depletion of the minerals calcium and magnesium from the bones, further affecting bone health. Having foods rich in the mineral Boron is beneficial at this time. Also consume alkaline foods to prevent mineral loss.
Avoid spicy foods, hot beverages, and caffeine as they tend to trigger hot flashes. Instead try for cooler beverages like homemade iced tea, coconut water.
Weight bearing exercises are important too. Maintaining optimal diet and weight is very vital as hormonal imbalances tend to make it easier to gain weight, mainly around the middle. Healthy diet and physical activity not only helps lower cholesterol and lose weight but also reduces risks of breast cancer. And perform Sun salutation, Trikonasana, Tadasana , Vajrasnana, Chakrasana , Veerassana, !5 minutes daily walk in the morning , Nadishodhana pranayama , Om mantra Dhyan and Yoga nidra . 4) SAHAJ DHYAN: Sit in padmasan or Sukhasana. Sit quietly, relax your body, breath slowly and deeply, and say “I am calm” each time you exhale. Do not try to chase thoughts out of your head, in fact, don't try to do anything. Practice for five minutes at a time, gradually, building up to 20 minutes. When Sahaj dhyan performed regularly, the relaxation response slows breathing, calm brain wave patterns and lowers blood pressure.
5) YONI MUDRA: Sit in padmasan or sukhasana stretch out both palms and bring them to your face. Close your eyes with the help of the index fingers with out pressing them. Put your fingers on either side of your nose, upper lips and lower lips, respectively. Both your ears must be pressed lightly with the thumbs. Mango, the king of fruits, belongs to the family Anacardiaceae. Various varieties of mango grow abundantly in Burma, Africa, Malaysia, India, Java and Sumatra. It is a nutrient packed fruit, extremely rich in minerals, antioxidant vitamins, and enzymes.
Mangoes are one of the richest sources of vitamin A and vitamin C and minerals namely potassium, calcium and phosphorus. It is laden with fiber too.

Mango was seen to affect several factors involved in fat metabolism as it reduces the circulating level of the hormone leptin. Leptin is produced by fat cells and its concentration in the blood is directly proportional to the body fat content. As body fat stores increase, the levels of leptin also increase. Leptin plays a key role in regulation of appetite. In the study, mice receiving high fat diets containing mango had significantly lower levels of leptin than mice eating the high fat diet alone. In addition to the positive effects of mango on body fat, the mango-containing diets also exhibited glucose lowering properties.
The high levels of fiber, pectin and vitamin C also help lower serum LDL cholesterol levels. Mango is rich in potassium which helps in controlling heart rate and blood pressure.
Anti Cancer Effect
A study led by Susanne Mertens-Talcott, Ph.D., Assistant Professor and Director for Research, Institute for Obesity Research and Program Evaluation of Texas, examined the effects of polyphenols found in fresh mangoes on cancerous and non-cancerous breast cells.
The study suggested that mango polyphenols limit inflammatory response in both cancerous and non-cancerous breast cells. The antioxidant compounds in mango fruit have been found to protect against colon, chest, leukemia and prostate cancers. These include quercetin, isoquercitrin, astragalin, fisetin, gallic acid and methyl gallate, and other enzymes.
Immune Boosting Affect
The high amount of vitamin C and vitamin A in mangoes, along with different kinds of carotenoids help keep the immune system healthy and strong. Because of their high content of vitamin A, mango is known to promote good eyesight.
Alkalinizing Effect
Tartaric acid, malic acid, and traces of citric acid found in mangoes help to maintain the alkalinity of the body. Enzymes in the fruit help in digestion.
