Week 9 #asanaalphabet - I is for Inaccessible. Varian, or hero's pose, has always been challenging for me. An injured knee and other limitations have made success in Virasana long in coming. It does not come easily, and I have to be mindful when coming into it. Which brings me to the "inaccessible" part--Supta Virasana. Reclined hero's pose makes me grit my teeth (and want to shake my fist at the sky in frustration). Working with the wheel helps prevent the load from being transferred to my lumbar spine, and as a bonus (yay!) assists in opening my thoracic spine.
