The Chinese will be welcoming for the Year of the Rooster in a few days time
Thanks for your visits and comments my friends
Have a great weekend! Cheers
Today is the first day of the Chinese New Year. 2017 is the year of the rooster. The rooster is almost the epitome of fidelity and punctuality. For ancestors who had no alarm clocks, the crowing was significant, as it could awaken people to get up and start to work.
To you all, good luck for this rooster year 鸡年吉祥
Happy Chinese New Year and welcome to the Year of the Rooster 2017.

Happy Lunar New Year! Wishing you much love and good fortune...
Were you born in Year of the Rooster...?
This chrome sculpture is by the very talented Sean Guerrero. Love his artistry and creativity! This area used to be quite rural some 50-60 years ago. It was mostly fields and there was a little airport called Phoenix Field nearby. Now, roads are being widened here and more development is happening. To me, seeing this sculpture is fitting for the area and is a lovely reminder of the way I remembered the area in years past.

2024 is the Year of the Dragon. But I have this ceramic bell because I was born in the Year of the Rooster.

Vancouver's annual Chinese New Year parade was held last Sunday, and as if on cue, the rain started to fall an hour before the parade was set to begin. This mom came prepared with umbrellas for herself and her two young children.
For Macro Mondays January 24 2022 - Stamp
Stamp is 1 and 3/8" square and was published for the year 2005. I'm not a stamp collector but a rooster lover!
HMM!
I was really glad I decided to go to both Chinese New Year parades this year. Yesterday was especially amazing-not just because of crowd size but also because it always reaffirms your faith in your city and country when you see people of all races and religions playing together, laughing together, standing together, walking together...and no one afraid because when we don't understand, we are ready to learn. This country can be an amazing country every day. I hope the Year of the Rooster will make us all stronger together.

“The moon is a loyal companion.
It never leaves. It’s always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do. Every day it’s a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human.
Uncertain. Alone. Cratered by imperfections.”

BELLA LUNA – JASON MRAZ
ANCHOR ME TO THE MOON
Anchor me to the Moon and not the Earth
for I must fly as high above the world amid the stars
with absolute surety that you will never let me fall
until I reach a green and perfect land
where roots from long ago are found
set within the beauty of an exquisite landscape
where love and friendship exist and wrap their arms around
to comfort me when I am down
to lift me; free me from this cacophony of sound
of countless; endless voices bombarding in my ears
so I can no longer hear the perfect voice
that whispers gently on the soft night breeze
until I float away and land softly on my knees
and all the noises of the past that haunted me
dissolve into the quiet night and leave me be
free to enjoy the sensations of the night
that carry me in dreams; that end the constant fight
and in the sunshine of the morning I can still see the Moon
opaque and pure in white set against a bright blue sky
I blink away the tears that once refused to fall
and sighing deeply; then breathing in it all
this perfect moment echoed through the ages
repeated until at last it finds it's place
and I am where I am supposed to be
lit from within as the shadows of my face
disappear behind me as I face into the light
they may follow me, but they keep out of sight
and this day is mine to do with as I will
through the intricate patterns of this world
I am simplicity and still
tranquil opalescent moods descend upon me
lift me weightless from the floor
as I fly high up to where the Moon is smiling
happily to greet me and cries for me no more.

The Chinese Lunar New Year came early this year. A brand new year for me and many of you out there.
Unfortunately, this year for me, it started off with a turn of event. Somehow either my lens or camera malfunction during this attempt. Great epicness of change in weather but unfortunate outcome from my gears.
Well, all I have to say. It's a full stop to me here till I have a good amount of fundings for a new set of gears. Photographing has been a very exciting experience; been able to meet new kakis (friends), new knowledge, a new chapter of life. Till that day when I return to this amazing and creative world, here I wish all of you happy shooting and keep creating those nice perspective from you and your gears.
Happy Chinese New Year!

I'm stampolina and I love to take photos of stamps. Thanks for visiting this pages on flickr.
I'm neither a typical collector of stamps, nor a stamp dealer. I'm only a stamp photograph. I'm fascinated of the fine close-up structures which are hidden in this small stamp-pictures. Please don't ask of the worth of these stamps - the most ones have a worth of a few cents or still less.
By the way, I wanna say thank you to all flickr users who have sent me stamps! Great! Thank you! Someone sent me 3 or 5 stamps, another one sent me more than 20 stamps in a letter. It's everytime a great surprise for me and I'm everytime happy to get letters with stamps inside from you!
thx, stampolina
For the case you wanna send also stamps - it is possible. (...I'm pretty sure you'll see these stamps on this photostream on flickr :) thx!

Multicoloured roosters and hens seem to be everywhere in Key West, Florida. Most of them are wild and they are a distinctive sight and sound on the streets of the island.
These controversial birds have called the island home for almost two hundred years, brought here by early pioneers as a much needed source of meat and eggs. When thousands of Cubans fled the Revolution in the 1950’s, many found refuge and employment in Key West’s lucrative cigar business. They brought their loud, colorful birds with them. Lots of them. As meat and eggs became readily available in local markets, the need for individual families to keep chickens evaporated and the lucky birds were set free to roam the island and reproduce.
The flock on this small island has grown to over 2,000.

The Magical Lantern Festival London, at Chiswick House is a spectacular fusion of art, heritage and culture. Illuminated outdoor installations of beautifully sculpted lanterns taking various forms.
The Chinese zodiac is divided into 12 blocks (or houses) just like its western counterpart, but with the major difference being that each house has a time-length of one year instead of one month. This year, it's the Year of the Rooster, the 10th animal in the cycle. The next Year of the Rooster will be in 2029.
Today we decided to celebrate by braving the constant rain and going to London's Chinatown in search of the best-tasting dumplings (my favorites are still Mama Lan's in Brixton Village). How did you celebrate?

A busy time in Chinatown, Soho, London yesterday. was absolutely rammed as people spent the weekend celebrating the CNY.
A vintage Japanese New Year card for the Year of the Rooster. Among other things, the rooster represents the traits of kindness and hospitality.
I walked away from the event crowds and wandered the quieter streets of the ID. While doing so I came across three people, at completely different locations, sketching scenes around the area. I'm assuming they were connected in some way. I should have asked.
We decided to celebrate with a meal of sweet and sour prawns with rice - very nice. All cooked from a healthy recipe by Mr T :)).
Have a wonderful Year of the Rooster and rest of the weekend dear Flickr friends xxx
