Going to see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in concert tomorrow!!!!! My brother and I are making the little overnight road trip. I'm pretty excited, if you couldn't already tell. Karen O, the lead singer, is a bit crazy so I can't wait to see her perform live. Here's a little taste for you guys so you can be insanely jealous of me:

Karen O going for it Dec '02 in Los Angeles. The YYY's were a hot new thing with 'Master' the raw EP which in my opinion is a classic demo for a band that was really punk for their emmergence, but with a grit edge and alt-style that has yet to be 'labeled'. Somehow, my friend Warren and I were able to catch up with the group at their hotel and get into their show. It was so much fun. Ive since regretted not having more time to prepare for the shoot. It was at the Roosevelt Hotel on Hollywood Blvd. Their publicist had set up afternoon interviews poolside. Somehow, we were last in line with them and got to spend an hour or so chatting about music and movies. Karen was really shy and awkward. Nick was obviously the leader of discussion with Brian throwing in his humor from time to time. After the poolside interview, where I think the band felt uncomfortable with the "hollywood treatment" we wandered through the hotel's 7th floor which had been undergoing a complete resoration. Rooms, hallways, bathrooms were mixmatched and gutted. We went into a pink room and I snapped off a half roll with lights on location and natural light coming through the window. Karen refused to brush her bangs aside. She liked being hidden I think. That night, along with the Liars the YYY's were relentless in tearing it up at the Hollywood Palace, which ironically began the remodeling moment that next month and is now the classy Avalon. About six months later, Rolling Stone Magazine contacted me about publishing one of my shots as the magazine's "Next Big Thing" article. I was so excited. However, they went with a better known photographer.... damn you Martin Scholler! ha ha ha. well, he is one of the BEST shooters out there. I guess I understood. Karen even brushed her bangs aside for him.

Sometimes an image should invite you into a fantasy.
This is what you get when you mix Marinas underground and Nicholes color pop.
Yep, look out for him, he's a real terror! If you're not careful, he might even wake up and lick you!
