The last night of the fall is celebrated in the Iranian culture as Yalda Night(Shabe Yaldā (Persian: یلدا) or Shabe Chelle (Persian: شب چله)), the night the Sun is reborn.

Shab-e Yalda Mobarak!
Wir feiern die längste Nacht 🌙 des Jahres und die Wiederkehr der Sonne 🌞mit Tee und Geschichten.
Eigentlich gehören Granatäpfel mit auf den Tisch, aber die waren aus.
Und Wassermelonen 🍉. Man isst an Yalda nämlich Sommerfrüchte, damit der Winter sieht, hier ist er an der falschen Adresse! Hau ab! Geh nach Alaska oder von mir aus nach Österreich! Aber ich mag keine Wassermelonen.
Erdbeeren 🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓 gab es 😋 die machen wir nachher mit Sahne. 😋😋😋
Tee und Geschichten - ich feiere heute meine Bücher 📚📖 und diese drei Herren, sie sind ja auch Geschichten.
Ken, der Amerikaner, ließ sich vorhin die persischen Bräuche zu Yalda erklären, und jetzt übertreibt er's gleich: er kommt in Hawaii-Hemd und Shorts, ready for the beach, Momo und Yinka hat er auch gesagt, ihr müsst sowas anziehen. 😂😂😂

Vorhin gab's Couscous mit Auberginen 🍆 - wir lassen es uns gut gehen.
"Bist jetzt fertig mit fotografieren?", fragt Yinka. "Kann ich jetzt meine Jacke wieder anziehen?" 😉
Lasst es euch gut gehen, und lasst euch nicht verrückt machen, wenn da draußen der ganze Weihnachts-Trubel ist.

Shab-e Yaldā (Persian: یلدا) or Shab-e Chelleh (Persian: شب چله) is an Iranian festival originally celebrated on the Northern Hemisphere's longest night of the year, that is, on the eve of the Winter Solstice.
This night has roots in Mithraism, an ancient Iranian religion based on the worship of Mithra, the greatest of Iranian deities before the coming of Zoroaster in the 6th century BC.

This poster advertises a Yalda Night celebration being held in Newcastle's Irish Centre. Yalda Night is a Persian Winter Solstice Celebration generally celebrated on the longest night of the year. The 'fruits, sweets and nuts' advertised as complimenting the event are traditional foods eaten at the celebration. Ali Dean is a popular Iranian comedian known for his impersonations of ayatollahs. Yalda Night generally involves dancing, conversation, the telling of stories and the telling of jokes, hence the stand up comedy performance and 'live music from Behrooz Rahimian'. The presence of this poster in Arthur's Hill suggests that the area has a resident Persian / Iranian / British Persian/ Iranian population.

Es ist die längste Nacht des Jahres. Wir feiern sie mit Poesie und Geschichten.

Meine Gäste sind ja auch Geschichten, und Jafar zitiert dann Gedichte von Rumi.
Gedichte über die Liebe, sein Blick wandert zu Steffi.
"Rumi ist ein Sohn unserer Stadt, Ghazni.", sagt er. "Er ist zwar in der Türkei begraben und die Türken feiern ihn als den ihren. Aber er war eigentlich Afghane!"
Dann ist Abdi an der Reihe, und er zitiert Hadrawi:
“Dadku waa addoomoo,
Lama siin awoodaha,
Alle lagaga maarmee,
Keli lagu ahaadee,
Ha illaawin baqashada!”
Dieser Vers beschäftigt mich schon seit Tagen und ich frage verschiedene Personen nach Übersetzung.Jeder gibt eine andere Nuance wieder. Mann kann den Sinn übertragen, aber nicht die sprachliche Wortgewalt. Des Menschen Sterblichkeit als ein Käfig...

Und mit Goethe kommen wir wieder zu Hafez - da schließt sich der Kreis.
Draußen ist die totale Weihnachts-Hektik, ich habe das Gefühl, dieses Jahr noch mehr als sonst. Ich habe zwei Granatäpfel gefunden - offenbar ist in Sizilien die Saison schon vorbei.
Die vielen Erdbeeren vom letzten Jahr gab es nicht, die frieren wohl genauso wie wir. Das war wohl letztes Jahr Klimawandel.
Egal, dann essen wir halt Apfelmus mit Schlagsahne.
Aber nach dem leckeren Hähnchen sind eh alle pappsatt, niemand will mehr was...

the longest night of the year (in the northern hemisphere), one the Persian Celebration is still celebrated as the start of the days becoming longer
