Continuing my December theme:The colour Blue
The winter sky can be the most dazzling of the year, with the white mantle of snow making it shine even brighter! Suddenly we seem so small in the landscape, and I recall a Haiku
"As I sit quietly, doing nothing,
Spring comes and the grass
grows of itself"
[from Zenrin Kushu]

Crossing the hills to visit Fyvie Castle - the sun streams through the trees.
I always love the way the fence leans towards the tree, as if they are trying to join up and stop us from driving through!
It's been a hard weather week here, and through large parts of the UK - here's hoping for some warm and dry days over the weekend ;o)
HFF!! ;o)

They get along so well and the little one imitates Ziggy,
My son took this beautiful photo, so far he takes the best of Tory:-)
My corner of Aberdeenshire ... with the barley mostly harvested (not a good year I think) and hay bales in the fields. The golden glow of autumn is all around, and everything seems so tranquil. It's a view I've watched and shot over the years. There's a link to a winter shot in the first comment field ;o)

Apologies for another shot from the trip to Leith Hall we made earlier in November. The road was lit up with the autumn sun and the autumn trees. Mostly all gone now, as winter closes in.
Happy Fence Friday! and have a great weekend too ;o)

Another shot from the trip to Leith Hall we made earlier in November. The gate is prominent, but the fencing more hidden! And we guess the secluded cottage is for one of the estate groundsmen.

The sun is low in the sky, and shines straight into the car... the windscreen makes for some lovely bokeh and flare effect.... which I admit to enhancing a little ;o)
HFF!! and have a lovely weekend!
I'll be a bit on and off and slow commenting this weekend .... both our birthdays and our wedding anniversary are filling the days ;o)

Yesterday we had a rare sunny morning! So we grabbed cameras and headed out to shoot what remains of the autumn display. As we drove to Leith Hall I used the iPhone XS Max to catch the road ahead,

On Saturday we had our vaccination appointments, but the blizzards meant we couldn't get through to the centre in Inverurie.
This morning the sun was shining, as we tried again! The roads were lined with banks of snow, and we met plenty of meltwater as the snow is slowly melting now!
So success! 😊

The entrance to the old Kirkyard at Auchterless. It contains the ruins of the old Kirk building, and gravestones from the 1700s.
A familiar sight as we return to the village ... this was captured as we drove past.
Happy Fence Friday! and have a lovely weekend too ;o)

I found out more about the history of the old Kirk and of the village:
"The parish of Auchterless derives its name from the Gaelic “uachdar” meaning upper and “leas” meaning enclosure and it was here in the Howe of Auchterless that the site for a church was chosen Undoubtedly the present Church is the most imposing building in the village.
Though little information about the Church exists before 1157, the patron saint of the Church is St. Donan and according to local folk lore, he threw his staff into the River Ythan (which runs behind the church) and where it came to rest, this was the place for the site of the original church.
Apparently a fire led to the destruction of vital records from before October 1706. Evidence of a Pre Reformation church still can be seen in the churchyard. Also in the graveyard can be seen the ivy-covered gable wall of the church constructed in 1780. This underwent significant repair in 1832 so that the church could seat 650 worshippers."
New Year's Eve and the frost was reluctantly melting in the sun! This tree looked so graceful, almost dancing ;o)
