Simulators can be hard to keep track of as they are frequently redecorated for corporate clients and attend events other than traditional fairs. This is one of several owned by UK Sim Rides, which I believe is a partnership between the Smart and Gray families, and was offering the experience of flying a Typhoon as an RAF recruitment tool when photographed at the Xscape in Milton Keynes.

This new series of digital abstracts (Xscapes) explores the so-called 'mind's eye' of the artist. This is the relationship between what the visual cortex (eye) observes ('sees') and transmits to the mind and what the mind imposes upon this visual information and guides the manner in which the eye 'sees.

 

Jeff Hawkins in his work 'On Intelligence' points out that the information relayed by the cortex: 'always flows in the opposite directiion as well...The higher regions of your cortex send more signals "down" to your primary visual cortex than your eyes receive.' And in the case of artists this is a particularly rich mixture.

I once saw a corncrake, albeit very briefly, on Islay. An amazing looking bird. I didn't get a photo but I do now have this photo of a pint of Corncrake (Orkney Brewery) in the Lord of the Isles, Xscape. Not as good as Red McGregor or Dark Island but very pleasant. The wife is enjoying a cola as it was a Sunday and she doesn't drink on a school night.

S&D Leisure this year took delivery of the UK's first Loop Fighter ride from Technical Park. These machines are normally on two loads but S&D had this one specially built as a single load; rather than using water tanks it carries its own on-board solid ballast so it is much heavier than similar rides, hence the four axles. This impressive load could be found parked up behind Xscape in Milton Keynes for a few weeks in late October.
