When the cygnets are in need, the cob just rushes in to defend them…
Mute Swans are one of Britain's largest and heaviest birds, with a wingspan of up to 240 centimeters. Male swans (known as cobs) are highly territorial and first threaten intruders, striking an aggressive pose with wings arched over their back, before charging at them to chase them off.

As a mere one-year old pup, one of the birthday presents I received was a kit for raising butterflies.
I raised six butterflies from June 24 through July 14, 2010.
Eagerly, I watched them grow everyday, from larva to butterflies. This little one we named Sparrow, and it was the first of the six butterflies to fly away.

It's Texture Tuesday and Kim Klassen's theme today is Pretty In Pink. While borrowed from the archives, this new version of the photograph has an addition of two beautifully handmade textures by Kim Klassen, "Yesteryear" and "Aurora." She pours her love and care into making her free-to-use textures, so thank you very much Kim!

The white seed head of a dandelion after flowering.
A dandelion clock (soffione) is a ball of fluff full of wishes! As kids, we always used to blow dandelion seeds off of the stem and make a wish that would supposedly be granted if you could blow them all off at once. We still make a wish on a dandelion clock whenever we have the chance; do you? Hope all your wishes will come true! ♥
