Kiyomizu-dera, the temple of pure water

Kiyomizu-dera es la denominación de varios templos budistas, pero comúnmente se refiere al templo Otowasan Kiyomizudera en la ciudad de Kioto, Japón. El templo data del año 778, aunque los edificios actuales fueron construidos en 1633. El conjunto forma parte de los Monumentos históricos de la antigua Kioto, incluidos entre el Patrimonio de la Humanidad de la UNESCO. El edificio principal de Kiyomizu-dera destaca por su enorme baranda, sostenida por cientos de pilares, que sobresale de la colina y ofrece impresionantes vistas de la ciudad. Debajo de la sala principal se encuentra la cascada Otowa-no-taki, donde tres canales de agua caen en un estanque. Los visitantes del templo cogen el agua de la cascada, de la que se piensa que tiene propiedades terapéuticas, en copas de metal o de plástico. Se dice que beber esta agua supone tener salud, longevidad y éxito en los estudios.

Kiyomizu-dera, officially Otowa-san Kiyomizu-dera is an independent Buddhist temple in eastern Kyoto. The temple was founded in 778, and its present buildings were constructed in 1633. It's part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto UNESCO World Heritage site. The main hall has a large veranda, supported by tall pillars, that juts out over the hillside and offers impressive views of the city. Large verandas and main halls were constructed at many popular sites during the Edo period to accommodate large numbers of pilgrims. Beneath the main hall is the Otowa waterfall, where three channels of water fall into a pond. Visitors can catch and drink the water, which is believed to have wish-granting powers.

Movido por la pasión que me produce New York me embarqué en la lectura de la novela del mismo título ("New York" de Edward Rutherfurd), que arranca en la en la fundación de la ciudad y acaba en nuestros días. Aunque como obra literaria es bastante discutible en muchos aspectos, su lectura es un placer para cualquiera que haya pateado sus calles y barrios, y tenga un grato recuerdo de su estancia en ella. Esta imagen de archivo, texturizada y editada por mí, es un reflejo fiel de los buenos momentos que me ha hecho vivir el libro.

Moved by the passion that produces New York to me I started the reading the novel of the same title ("New York" by Edward Rutherfurd), that starts at the foundation of the city and ends nowadays. Although as a literary work is questionable in many respects, their reading is a pleasure for anyone who has stroll around its streets and neighborhoods, and have fond memories of their stay in it. This photo from an image bank, textured and edited by me, is a faithful reflection of the good moments that made ​​me live the book.

Los Riscos de Famara, con sus impresionantes paredes verticales, son el principal macizo montañoso de Lanzarote, con 670 metros de altitud. En Famara se presentan los materiales geológicos más antiguos (Mioceno). Lo abrupto del terreno permite que sea el refugio de numerosas especies, además de una curiosa urbanización poblada casi exclusivamente por holandeses y alemanes.

The cliffs of Famara, with its impressive vertical walls, are the main massif of Lanzarote with 670 meters. In Famara are the oldest geological materials of the island (Miocene). The rough terrain can be the refuge for many species, and also a curious housing development populated almost exclusively by Dutch and Germans.

Por una muerte digna para los animales │ For a dignified death for animals

Tras llevar a cabo varias inspecciones, Bruselas considera que hay "graves deficiencias" en los sistemas utilizados para el sacrificio de los animales. Las normas europeas obligan a minimizar al máximo el sufrimiento de los animales, evitando toda agitación o dolor tanto en los que se sacrifican en mataderos como fuera de ellos. Para eso, España tiene que introducir leyes claras sobre los mataderos y garantizar sistemas de inspección que corrijan los incumplimientos. Según la legislación comunitaria, los encargados de dar muerte al animal deberán ser profesionales que aturdan primero al animal en caso de que no sea posible su muerte de manera instantánea.

Si España no demuestra que las normas cumplen con los requisitos europeos, el Ejecutivo comunitario podría remitir el caso a la Justicia comunitaria, que podría imponer una multa.

Puppy, el westy mascota del museo Guggenheim de Bilbao, fue creado por Jeff Koons, el controvertido artista kitch y está construido como una estructura de acero recubierta por una enorme variedad de flores y un sistema interno de irrigación. La escultura fue adquirida en 1997 por la Fundacion Solomon Guggenheim e instalada en su actual ubicación, convirtiéndose en un ícono del museo y de la ciudad.

Puppy, the westy pet of the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum, was created by Jeff Koons, the controversial artist kitsch and is built as a steel structure covered with a huge variety of flowers and an internal system of irrigation. The sculpture was acquired in 1997 by Solomon Guggenheim Foundation and installed in its current location, becoming an icon of the museum and the city.
