RAF Elvington
Royal Air Force Elvington or more simply RAF Elvington is a former Royal Air Force station which operated from the beginning of the Second World War until 1992 located at Elvington, Yorkshire, England.
The adjacent buildings and control tower have been restored, and serve as the Yorkshire Air Museum which has many varied and rare aircraft and exhibits, including a complete Halifax bomber.

When most of the men in America were fighting WWII, the baseball games were sometimes played by women. This reenactment was part of WWII Days in Lockport, IL
Consolidated B-24 "Liberator" known as Diamond Lil. At one point they had changed her to Ol' 927, I have to say I'm glad to see her back to this name. I'm fond of Lils ;)
One of (if not the) most produced bombers of the era the B-24 was also one the more successfully mass produced. Ford's Willow Run MI plant produced close to half of them and rolled up to 25 Liberators out the door every day they were in production.
