Oirginally I had intended to post this image as the lens had projected it on to the camera's sensor, with all the imperfections that a lovely old wide-angle can come up with - vignetting, distortion, chromatic aberration...
However, this fine window got the better of me, and said, "I'm the subject of this picture, not your silly old lens!" And here it is: cropped, straightened up, ironed out, so that the blacksmith's wrought-iron, in all it's fine proportion and charm, can catch our eye. The old wooden-framed panes have long-since been replaced with modern plastic and double-glazing to keep out the dust and noise of Vienna's " Gürtel" Ring-Road ("Gürtel"="Belt") - once laid out for defence purposes and rapid deployment of troops, later, at least in part, a noble residential area, (in the 1920s the Socialist City Council built palaces for the proletariat along some stretches) - in the 1970s and '80s a notorious red-light district, these days a thoroughfare with heavy traffic day and night.
Note the hint of Autumn on the pavement.
If you zoom in, you can catch a glimpse of the photographer ;-)
