As Lloyd Spiegel remarked during his concert, it felt like home! Still 30C in the evening it was no different than Melbourne, where he is from. Comfortable on the stage, where he performs since age 10; the Wunderkind is now over 40. He composes and sings many of his own songs. Usually, he performs solo, but Lisa Baird (Lily&King), a great fun trombone player, came to support him musically and keep company on the long tour through Canada.

Sorting out this afternoon, discovered this B/W print from 1970 so decided to scan it and share with the Flicktr community.

At University in 1970, took a photographic course in 35mm film photography. This is from my very first roll of film that I shot, processed and printed myself!

I had a Russian Zenith camera and thought of myself as a budding wunderkind! I had cut the 35mm film from a long roll. Learnt how to load it into the camera and then went out with one of the instructors to lean a bit about taking good photos, not just holiday snaps!

A group of us went into Lancaster and I shot this at the rear of the Lancaster Prison offices. Then back to the dark room to learn how to develop and print! This was from my very first roll I ever took that I had done completely on my own!

Even then I liked patterns in my shots and unfortunately this is the only one that I can find at present. Maybe I will discover more ancient work!

The view from her loft was especially beautiful that evening. The transparent aluminium walls had their vibrance settings set to near maximum, boosting the fading autumn sunset. The old-fashioned bioluminescent lighting mid-town cast a lovely green glow, but Caoimhe wondered how long they would be around.

The famous ‘Galway Green’ self-charging lamps, developed by Galway University wunderkind Dr. Jared Q. Gerlach more than a hundred seventy years earlier, had recently been removed from the floating spaceport in Galway Bay… She’d Nurallinked somewhere that he’d been trying to adapt saguaro cactus to Ireland’s climate, and found a new nano-bot that would make them perpetually give off light.

Cheap clean energy though was a thing of the past, at least here, as Ireland was now insanely rich. Since the last remaining oil reserve in the world had been discovered beneath a Traveller halting site, outside of Tuam, in County Mayo, the country was rolling in cash, unseen since the days of the Saudi Sheiks.

(This actually the Galway Racecourse 'Champagne Bar', taken through one window and out the other, in broad daylight, then messed with in Lightroom. No AI's were harmed in the making of this image.)

Meet Bertha, a common toad who was not ‘common’ at all. Bertha lived or I should say, shared my garden patio outside my kitchen back door, with me, for seven years until she died. She is now buried in my garden as she deserved a little ceremony for giving me so much joy for those years, which was a while ago now, but I thought I would share her life with you, as I still miss her, and I think about her often.

When I became aware of Bertha she was already an adult toad, so I suspect she was about 10 years old when she died, which is about average for a wild toad. I had encountered toads in my garden before over the years, and one made its home in the greenhouse for a time.

But Bertha was different. She decided to move in. I first encountered her in the outside loo, which was where the original loo was for our Victorian property. The loo still works, but it is not used much as the spiders are in a league of their own in there! Perhaps this was what attracted Bertha.

There was a gap in the wooden door at the base, so she obviously had decided to go in there exploring. I left her to it, as I knew she would find her own way out.

Well, she did find her own way out, but she decided to stay on the patio, as it had a small water dish, and the next day I found her lazily swimming in it. Then I found her the following day sleeping in a garden flower pot.

She stayed the summer. And she grew. When we got to the winter she went in the outside loo again, and hunkered down in the corner. Hmm. We can do better than that I thought, so we made a toad home for her out of an old shoe box, and I placed some dried leaves in there for her so she could hibernate. I placed this in the loo out of the drafts in the back corner on the ground and next time I looked she had gone in it and was asleep in the leaves.

There she remained until the spring, and I was next aware of her having a soak in the water dish when it had warmed up. I thought she would follow her nature and look for a breeding ground else where, but she didn’t leave.

She stayed…for the next seven years. Her favourite food was woodlice, ants and spiders. I got slugs for her but she ignored those. She used to catch flies out of the air with her tongue.

This image shows her in the August of one year, when she was at her optimum size. All summer she used to just eat and eat, then spend the afternoon snoozing in her favourite spot by the back door, gradually digesting the night’s feast, lounging about in the toadflax plant.

She was quite happy, and never afraid when I used to sit down with her. I used to talk to her, and her head used to come up, as she recognised my voice. She got used to my camera.

When she got stuck between two pots or couldn’t quite reach something, or any other scrape she got herself in I used to rescue her. She knew I would. She quite often used to just sit in my lap or in my hands, snoozing away.

There was something uniquely special about this time in my life. Foxes used to visit the garden and we helped a vixen regain her health as well at this time. But they never bothered Bertha or hurt her. I guess the toxins in a toad’s skin tells them that is not a good idea, but I have known foxes throw a frog about just for play! But they left Bertha alone.

Bertha used to make me laugh with her antics and the way I ended up basically being her servant. Fresh water each day and sometimes extra lunch for her when I came across it.

Her eyes were so beautiful. The way her little hands used to hold onto my fingers seemingly affectionately. She had this uncanny knack of knowing exactly what the weather was going to do, and timed her hibernation to perfection. Each year she went into the outside loo and slept in her box. But sometimes if it was a mild winter she would come out early and find a snack. One of these occasions was on a Christmas Day. But being near the house, I guess the patio was a few degrees warmer than the rest of the garden. She only went back in that year to her box when it started to snow. A toad in snow is a sight to see, but she took it in her stride.

But eventually there came a day when I knew she was not well. She wanted to get back to her toad box in the loo, but could not. She looked up at me, so I carried her in.

I knew it would not be long. A few hours later she died peacefully, and I buried her in the garden, safely under an Angel statue, that could not be moved easily. She deserved to go back to nature.

I missed her terribly. But sometimes..I can sense her on my garden patio. And most of all, I am so grateful for the privilege that was granted me to be able to spend part of my life with this beautiful creature, who delighted my soul. Thank you Bertha.

Bertha was my Wunderkind. She was a special toad. When you look back at events or a time in your life such as this with a wild creature that decides to spend so much time with you, you realise how lucky you were. These times do not come often.

So I have chosen this track by Alana Morissette, “Wunderkind” from the film, “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe”, as sometimes my garden has a quality of Narnia about it, and there is no doubt in my mind if Bertha is anywhere, she is there, in her own Narnia.

Update 26th October 2024.

Thank you everybody for all your lovely comments about Bertha. I am so pleased she has been 'Explored', as she deserves all the love for being the beautiful creature that she was and the joy she gave me in allowing me to share her life.

Truly, caring for each other and the wildlife around us is the most important task in this world that we can do.

Thank you with all my love, Shell x

After a song by UK electronica wunderkinds, Underworld. The song was recorded when they were a 3 piece unit. Now they are the solid duo of Karl Hyde and Rick Smith. Darren Emmerson went on to work as a dj. A great piece of electronica with voice and some wicked slide guitar work.

"Wilber, this is one of the highly anticipated moments of this year's MidCentral Piano Recitalfest."

"That's right, Emory, coming on the stage now is young Schroeder from Paprihaven Elementary. He's known as a 'phenom' or a 'wunderkind' with the piano."

"It has been said that young Master Schroeder can channel the greats, particularly Beethoven, with a natural flair. He is known... wait a moment... this is odd..."

"Odd, indeed! Master Schroeder is... is he bringing his own piano??"

"He is! Master Schroeder has his own piano! This is unprecedented!"

"Well, he has been described as eccentric."

Flambro is another of our favorite brands for the Peanuts license. We had an account with them when we had our collectibles store and Flambro never failed to delight with their colorful and innovative designs.

This series, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Peanuts (Which occured in 2000), features nine figurines, each of them incredibly cute, such as Schroeder here.

Man, I've been trying to upload this for an hour....I need a new computer! This was taken at Ala Moana Beach with the help of Kelsey and Chris, and I finally got to meet/shoot with the talented Kylie which was awesome. Kylie, I can't wait to see your version!

I spent an hour at the beach picking out the perfect pieces of coral for this shot. I wanted them all to be similar in type...some look like branches and orange, so I made sure I didn't grab those. I also picked a few different sizes...you can see smaller ones on top. The waves would crash at Barbers Point, and I'd have a split second to see the coral and snag it out of the water :)

Thanks for the help everyone, I had a blast! I'm uploading a few behind the scenes pictures to my Facebook, and I have a BTS video to edit as well. Push that Like Button thingy :)

Dave, the wunderkind of Flickr, took the first photo with the socks and then passed them to the beautiful Amber. From there, Amber sent the socks to the fabulous Maia who walked them over to bun in the oven Cherron who finally took them over to the gorgeous Chrissy. Chrissy decided to send them off to me. Joy! So this is my contribution to the group. Dyxie style. I couldn't wear the socks because of my gigantoid tattoo that is still healing. And plus, I have really fat legs. So there. I hope I didn't embarrass the group too horribly bad.

It may be the best I can manage this year. So I guess it's time to get a little closure.

This are two extra guys from "The winning number" doll story. Simon, who supposedly has mental issues, and his psychologist, Olya. And Simon's dog, whose name is just Dog.

The crooked red leaf in the forefront dates back to the mid-2010s. That's when I picked it up from an autumn pile, with the intention to include it in this very scene. It has taught me why fallen leaves should be stored between the pages of a book. It had remained a very beautiful, burgundy-red seashell for the first 5-6 years, and then it curled on itself completely.

The same tineframe goes for the leafy fabric used as the backdrop. That's what happens when your experience as a photographer outgrows the staff you have gathered for a particular photo set. I'm a wunderkind of procrastinating, you know )) Or rather, of waiting for the right moment.

It took me a long time to figure out what to do with this image, but I finally arrived at something I'm happy with. I met up with landscape Wunderkind David (D Breezy on flickr) to shoot this location at sunrise. While struggling to find this spot in the dark David helpfully got a text message from Christina (Konejita on flickr) -- at 4am. She saved us from missing sunrise by giving us directions. Things were looking promising that morning but the light never really quite got through the clouds. What you see here lasted for a few minutes. Fun times.

I'm fairly certain I was just street photographed by a baby, but she made the rookie mistake of covering the lens with her finger.

Born Carl Lucas and raised in New York City's Harlem neighborhood, he spends his youth in a gang called the Rivals. With his friend Willis Stryker, he fights rival gangs and commits petty crimes.

In and out of juvenile homes throughout his teens, Lucas dreams of becoming a major New York racketeer until he finally realizes how his actions are hurting his family. He seeks to better himself as an adult by finding legitimate employment.

Meanwhile, Stryker rises through the ranks of crime, but the two men remain friends. When Stryker's activities anger the Maggia crime syndicate, he is badly beaten in a mob hit, saved only by Lucas's intervention. When Stryker's girlfriend, Reva Connors, breaks up with him in fear of his violent work, she seeks solace with Lucas.

Stryker is convinced that Lucas is responsible for the breakup, so he plants heroin in Lucas's apartment and tips off the police. Lucas is arrested and sent to prison where contact with his family is sparse due to the resentment of his brother James Lucas Jr., who intercepts Lucas's letters to their father James and eventually leads each to believe the other is dead. During this time, Reva is killed by members of the Maggia, whose drugs Stryker had stolen to frame Lucas in the first place.

Lucas is consumed by rage over Stryker's betrayal and his father's supposed death, engaging in frequent brawls and escape attempts. Eventually transferred to Seagate Prison off the coast of Georgia, he becomes the favorite target of racist corrections officer Albert "Billy Bob" Rackham, whose sadistic brutality ultimately leads to a demotion that he blames on Lucas.

Research scientist Dr. Noah Burstein recruits Lucas as a volunteer for a cellular regeneration experiment based on a variant of the Super-Soldier process he had previously used to empower Warhawk. This experiment would later be revealed to be part of the Weapon Plus program, specifically, Weapon VI.

Burstein immerses Lucas in an electrical field conducted by an organic chemical compound; then he leaves Lucas unattended, Rackham alters the experiment's controls, hoping to maim or kill Lucas.

Lucas' treatment is accelerated past its intended limits, inducing body-wide enhancements that give him superhuman strength and durability. He uses his new power to escape Seagate and makes his way back to New York, where a chance encounter with criminals inspires him to use his new powers for profit.

Adopting the alias Luke Cage and donning a distinctive costume, he launches a career as a Hero for Hire, helping anyone who can meet his price. He soon establishes an office above Times Square's Gem Theater, where he befriends film student D.W. Griffith.

Burstein, aware of his friend's innocence, also relocates to New York and opens a medical clinic, assisted by Dr. Claire Temple, whom Cage begins dating. Although Cage is content to battle strictly conventional criminals, he soon learns that New York is hardly the place to do so. Stryker himself has become a Maggia agent known as Diamondback and dies battling Cage.

Although Cage has little in common with most of New York's other superhumans, an ill-conceived attempt to collect a fee from a reneging Doctor Doom leads him to befriend the Fantastic Four.[17] Via a later retcon, Cage also befriends Jessica Jones, a young woman whose superhuman strength and unconventional style match his own.[18] During a mission in which Cage and Iron Man track down Orville Smythe, who had duped him into stealing an experimental starsuit from Stark International, Cage follows the example of his new peers and takes the codename of Power Man.[19] Cage battles a rogue Erik Josten for the use of the Power Man name, winning the right.[20]

Shortly afterward, Luke Cage begins associating with the loose-knit super-team the Defenders, alongside whom he battles the Wrecking Crew and the Sons of the Serpent.

Called to assist the Defenders against the Plantman, Cage begins to complain that his participation in their group is interfering with his paying work. Wealthy Defenders member Nighthawk solves this problem by placing Power Man on retainer, giving Luke a steady paycheck for his Defenders activities.

For some time thereafter, Power Man serves as a core member of the Defenders. Together, they defeat minor threats including the Eel and the Porcupine, and major menaces such as the Headmen, Nebulon, Egghead's Emissaries of Evil, and the Red Rajah; but Cage feels out of place in the often-bizarre exploits of the Defenders and eventually resigns.

Having obtained proof of Cage's innocence in his original drug charges, the criminal Bushmaster abducts Burstein and Temple, using their safety and the hope of acquittal to blackmail Cage into abducting detective Misty Knight, who humiliated Bushmaster in an earlier encounter.

Cage's efforts lead to a fight with Knight's boyfriend, the martial artist Iron Fist, who had spent most of his life in the extra-dimensional city of K'un-L'un and was unfamiliar with Earth society.

Upon learning of Cage's situation, Iron Fist and Knight help him defeat Bushmaster and rescue his friends. Cleared of criminal charges, Power Man legally changes his name to "Lucas Cage".

He briefly works for Misty Knight and Colleen Wing's detective agency, Nightwing Restorations, but soon elects to join Iron Fist in a two-man team, Heroes for Hire, founded by attorney Jeryn Hogarth and staffed by administrative wunderkind Jennie Royce.

Although the streetwise Power Man and the unworldly Iron Fist seem to have little in common, they soon become the best of friends. Cage's relationship with Claire Temple proves less durable, and he instead begins dating model Harmony Young.

Power Man and Iron Fist achieve great success with Heroes for Hire, earning an international reputation and fighting a wide variety of criminals.

Her work is consistently about the kindnesses and brutalities of social life:

about how we are to one another. The juxtaposition of imagery and text containing criticism of sexism and the circulation of power within cultures is a recurring motif in her work.

In case you don't know

The piper's calling you to join him

Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow?

And did you know

Your stairway lies on the whispering wind?

And as we wind on down the road

Our shadows taller than our soul

There walks a lady we all know

Who shines white light and wants to show

How everything still turns to gold

And if you listen very hard

The tune will come to you at last

The brain-child of GM’s wunderkind designer Cyrus Osborne, the “Vista-Dome,” of which nearly 250 were designed to emulate the essence of flying at tree-top level through America’s majestic topography, the 1948 Budd-Built Silver Club represents 5% of the 10% of Vista-Domes still with us today. Once a first-class diamond in the stainless, arguably peerless, and shared crown (aka The California Zephyr) of the mighty queens of railroad kings past (CB&Q, DRG&W, WP) who once reigned supreme over their high iron between the Windy City and The Bay. Over the years she’s been handed off from its very proud original owner, Burlington Route to Burlington Northern via merger then to Amtrak and on to various interim owners who regardless of their intent, ensured this special Fluted-Lady managed to survive while others, over the decades, eventually, quietly disappeared, disgraced by violent hands and means to become in-so-much as soda cans. Indeed, it was the generous Dakotan Dirk Lenthe who bequeathed her into the humble hands, care of, and eventual exquisite restoration at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum. I have never been a follower of American rail passenger equipment though as of late I have been charmed by this Silver-Domed-Dame as I have the privilege of waking her in the morning and putting her to bed nearly every evening. And though she’s had a glorious make-over, I hear and heal her aches and pains along with the capable hands and heart of those who tend to her every need to ensure she will outlive us all and continue to show us the Stairway to Heaven a la Heritage style. Inarguably the pinnacle as well as the epitome of North American rail travel. Ooh, makes me wonder... (© 15Aug20)

Future Music Festival, Randwick, Sydney, Australia...

Today Sydney once again enjoyed one of the premiere Music Festivals to hit Australia - the Future Music Festival.

Randwick, in Sydney's eastern suburbs was blasted by festival goers, and for the most part, the crowd was not disappointed.

The fest which attracted 50,000 fans, had a line-up that ranged from Psy to alt-indie rockers The Stone Roses.

Industry talk as some folks questioned the use of the phrase "future music" for bands who had found fame and success decades ago, including The Stone Roses and The Prodigy, despite both acts being strong drawcards for many fans at the event.

There were plenty of other hot acts on the marquee included Rita Ora, Australian band The Temper Trap and Avicii.

Well done to everyone involved in the success of this years Future Music Festival.

AVICII

ANNOUNCED AS THE EDM HEADLINER AT THIS YEAR'S FUTURE MUSIC FESTIVAL!!

Future Entertainment can now officially confirm that chart-topping Swedish superstar and worldwide phenomenon Avicii has been added to the already monumental line-up for this year's Future Music Festival in March!

Set to bring his massive production to the headlining spot of the EDM stage at this year's Future Music Festival, 2x Grammy award nominee Avicii has certainly proved himself as the EDM force to be reckoned with since he exploded on to the scene in 2011. Put quite simply, in the relatively short time since we first heard his name, Avicii has accomplished more than most artists would dream of in an entire lifetime. And, at just 23 years of age, Avicii is just getting started!

Best known for his exquisite production skills, his prolific live performances and a string of international mega-hits including the worldwide phenomenon, 'Levels', (which conquered music charts worldwide racking up over 50 million YouTube views, and was declared David Guetta's "Tune of 2011") Avicii is without a doubt one of the most in demand artists on the planet.

2012 saw the Swede skyrocket. Kicking the year off with the 'House for Hunger' tour, Avicii and manager Ash Pournouri donated a staggering $1million to the organization 'Feeding America', by doing a not-for-profit 27-stop tour of the U.S.

The year also saw him headline some of the world's biggest music festivals including Coachella, Ultra Music (where he was joined on-stage by pop queen Madonna), Lollapalooza, Electric Daisy Carnival, Tomorrowland, Exit Festival, Creamfields, Mysteryland, Austin City Limits. He was also recently ranked as the second-most influential under-30 person in music by Forbes magazine.

Most recently, Avicii has launched the Avicii x You project which will see him collaborate with fans, producers and musicians from all over the world for his next single. All profits from the single will again go to the 'Feeding America' charity.

2013 will see this prodigal wiz-kid join the hallowed ranks of the Future Music Festival. The Day Of The Dead-Set Awesome is most certainly upon us and it's set to be all the more awesome with Avicii onboard!

The unstoppable force that is Avicii will headline the EDM stage at this year's Future Music Festivals alongside fellow heavyweights Dizee Rascal, Hardwell, Steve Aoki, Madeon + many more.

The Future Music Festival 2013 pinata has officially popped!

It's the 'Day Of The Dead-Set Awesome' and this year Future Music Festival is set to rock your skulls off! We've been brewing something special, and full of more mind-blowing music than you can poke a cactus at... Future Music Festival 2013 is going to kick harder than a Tijuana donkey on peyote! Where else would you want to be? Our Casa is your casa muchacho!

With the most innovative and dynamic line-up to date, Future Entertainment is bringing you a curated arena and two super-sized main stages jam-packed with the hottest talent the world has on offer.

The Prodigy will give you the Warriors Dance Arena - an entire arena dedicated to hard-edged, and heavy bass driven music plus some of the world's most cutting-edge dub-step acts. The stage is set to showcase why this band deserves every sense of credibility and admiration attached to their name. It's going to be huge! Epic if you will. Joining them in the Warriors Dance Arena will be Boys Noize (Terminator-esque skull show! New album out this Friday), Feed Me Live (Live Teeth Show), FMF 2012 heroes Kill The Noize, Zeds Dead and Borgore. Another very welcome addition to the Warriors Dance Arena is international tastemaker and legendary DJ in his own right, Zane Lowe. This man has quite literally had a hand in the shaping careers of more than one of the artists on this line-up and has truly earned his stripes amongst the best. With each act as illustrious and defining as the next, be prepared... the Warriors are coming.

Fresh from breaking records for the fastest selling rock tour in UK history (220,000 tickets in 68 minutes!) the pioneers of alternative rock The Stone Roses are bringing their Manchester-borne reunion tour to Aussie shores. Joining them on the live front are fellow Brits Bloc Party. Returning to Australia for the first time since the release of their critically acclaimed new album Four they'll be sending fans into an absolute frenzy as they make their debut Future Music Festival appearance.

In a move unlike any other, International sensation and K-Pop superstar PSY has also been added to the bill. The recent online obsession over his Gangnam Style video has turned the South Korean into a global phenomenon. His single has had in excess of 400 million youtube views and has reached the number 1 spot in 33 countries and counting! Arriving in Australia this Sunday, Psy will perform on X-Factor and share with a captive nation his EX-PSY-TMENT about debuting his live show at Future Music Festival 2013.

Off the back of a triumphant performance at the AFL Grand Final that saw their smash hit album Conditions soar back into a Top 10 position in the ARIA charts, our boys The Temper Trap will be showing the internationals how we hold our own. Adding a little more Oz to the concoction will be indie-rock wunderkinds Gypsy & The Cat - returning with a much anticipated new album mixed by superstar Dave Fridman (The Flaming Lips, MGMT) and a new single 'Bloom' which shot straight to number 5 on the world wide hype machine.

Expect things to get a little bonkers with UK powerhouse MC and festival must-have Dizziee Rascal back on the bill. Fellow countrymen DJ Fresh and Rudimental have also had extremely impressive years. With a string of hits and sold out shows to each of their names respectively, these live acts know how to get the party started. Period. Also along for the ride we give you the chart-topping New York pop-rockers Fun. And you better believe it will be!

This season, Future Music Festival has pulled together an array of the finest female talent on the planet. First up, hailing from Harlem, we have the hard-hitting, natural born lyricist Azealia Banks. With a much anticipated new album on the way, this provocative lady of the moment is all set to deliver a hot and heavy set featuring tracks from her hit EP '1991'. Next up, Rita 'This Is How We Do' Ora will be taking to the stage. With no less than 3 number 1 UK hits under her Alexander Wang belt and a slew of burgeoning international praise, 2013 is all about Rita's Ora! On the topic of UK sensations, Ellie Goulding will be making her much-awaited Australian festival debut. Rounding off an almost perfect female contingent are the ever-impressive Aussies (and Future Music favourites), Nervo.

If ever there was an EDM all-star line-up, to end all other line-ups, this would undoubtedly be it. FMF 2013 brings you electronic icons Steve Aoki, A-Trak (Live), Madeon and Hardwell. The EDM A-Team has officially landed.

The undisputed heavyweight champion of underground and heralded king of Ibiza, Sven V th will be bringing his Cocoon Heroes concept down under for the first time. Returning for his 5th performance on FMF, V th will head up the strongest techno line-up in Future Music history. We kid you not. Cocoon Heroes will showcase fellow techno-titans Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos, Seth Troxler and Magda. Featuring full lights and production, Cocoon Heroes will boast all of the elements that make this the best event on the white island each summer, and much, MUCH more!

From the very moment she stepped onstage, the audience at The World Village Festival in Helsinki loved Dobet Gnahoré instantly. She totally mesmerised the people with her fantastic performance. Dancing wildly, controlling every muscle in her strong body, singing, beating the drums, flirting with the huge crowd, making love with her art. It was fascinating to make photos of the fabulous, energetic force of nature that she was !

"Côte d'Ivoire-born singer Dobet Gnahoré is one of the most captivating performers in contemporary African music. The charismatic singer won a Grammy Award together with India Arie for the song Pearls. Her beautiful voice and dancing ability make for a magical experience. Gnahoré is a talented singer, capable of performing in seven African languages and a variety of styles, from sensitive ballads to fast-paced African grooves.

Gnahoré grew up in a musical family and was influenced by Ki-Yi M'Bock, a tight-knit community of dancers, actors, visual artists and musicians. A self-taught wunderkind, Gnahoré decided to leave school at an early age to focus on music. Now a resident of France, the singer uses her art to highlight the intricate history and culture of Africa. Her 2007 album Na Afriki soared to the top of international charts.

Dobet Gnahoré is not afraid to speak out of politics or current social issues. Her lyrics have touched on issues such as women's status in Africa, forced marriages and domestic violence. For the last four years, Gnahoré has been working on her new album Miziki, which was released in early May."

Wer jetzt an Wunderkind Steve Winwood, Chris Wood und Jim Capaldi denkt, liegt nicht falsch: Gimme Some Lovin', Madam, pardon Mudam.

At the Popfest in front of the Karlskirche in Vienna. The songs that Lukas Oscar writes are excellent and show an incredible maturity. He also has a great voice and a good backing band. The only thing he still lacks a little is stage presence. But maybe that will come over the years, he's still very young.
