I know it's pretty late in the night and I'm getting tired, but is anyone else seeing pirate flags on their flickr homepage?
(EDIT) Ah, ok. It's International Talk Like A Pirate Day on September 19th
This is the mysterious object as it appears on the wall. Notice the small vents near the top where the "S1" component rests. Could it make some kind of sound? Does it sense a gas? Is it a government spy device?

The City of Kenora removed the web cam from service in February of 2024, it is no longer available.
Ok. I'm not sure what to say. This is is the middle of nowhere, and I'm pretty sure it was in Nevada, probably about 30 miles in? We weren't sure. It felt - creepy. Weird. Up on the top of the hill with nothing around as far as the eye can see, just two attached garages (but no door between them), abandoned and unused.
Captain Jack isn't quite sure what to make of Leonidas. A swift kick to the chest promptly followed, I assure you ;-)

I have no clue "what-the-f#ck" this is! I'm not an amateur to markup and development, but I do not know how this got here. Is this part of the new Analytics, Google profile tracking jargon?
Seriously.. who knows?

Sodium Lauryl Sulphate is a chemical used in detergents, and I'm incredibly sensitive to it, which is an arse because it's in things like soap and toothpaste. If I use the latter, it gives me mouth ulcers that last for weeks at a time (I use AloeDent toothpaste which doesn't have SLS in it)
The problem is, I don't know if these ingredients apply, seeing as I've got capsules with tablets in them...

This tee is a scene from what poultry factory farming really looks like. I won't go into detail about what goes on, you can read my blog for more info. But this chicken has had enough and is like, "WTF???" And seriously, what is going on with factory farming?? I can't believe this happens!
The Blue Angel (“Blauer Engel”) is a certification for environmentally friendly products and services in Germany, created in 1977. The award procedure goes from the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety through two other official instance to an independent jury, which is why the award is widely seen as a very reliable sign for environmental friendliness.
“EINKAUFAKTUELL” (which should rather be spelled “Einkauf aktuell”, meaning something like “up-to-date purchasing”) is about half a pound (in weight) worth of utterly useless advertising—mainly from big chain stores—bundled and soldered in plastic by Deutsche Post and delivered to every household in bigger German cities (soon to be expanded to more rural areas) every week.
To get rid of this crap in a somewhat environmentally justifiable manner (reading it is out of the question anyway), you need to rip the plastic open, then throw the contents into the paper recycle bin and the plastic into the plastic recycle bin.
Today I noticed this specimen in our apartment house’s staircase: with a big green tree on the front page, captioned “Einkaufaktuell erhält Umweltzeichen” (“Einkaufaktuell awarded with the Blue Angel”) and the award logo itself (telling that this award was given because the whole thing is made of 100% used paper).
I don’t know if I am missing the point here, but otherwise I think that this is just completely wrong—or, to put it bluntly, a genuine scandal.
