I got a photo published in XLR8R this month. The issues containing the previous photo in my stream of my friends is out now. I'm not only happy my photo is in there, but that they opted to use my tone adjustments as well.

Settings: Ambient is effectively gone. Not sure the ratio between the two flashes, but the output is 2:1, the main on the face double the brightness of the side light. The main is in a less efficient modifier, but it's also physically closer. I'd say side is 1 stop over neutral grey, and the main 1.5 stops.

Caitlin had her turn as the super kid in her kindergarten class and this is the sign they do to show some of the things thier classmates say about them.

O J Squeezy - his writeup said he was shy, but I walked into his roam room and he started a loud drumbeat of meows, which only ceased when he'd gotten enough petting. And then he would flop on the floor and look cute in between going for more pets. What a sweetie. His writeup says he is afraid of loud or sudden noises (except, I guess, the ones he makes himself!) so he needs a home that will meet that description. He has FIV so must be an only cat or live with other FIV cats. (Despite how it appears looking at the FIV cats at C.A.T., they are not all ginger toms.) He found a new home 3 August 2014.

April 1899 writeup for the the Bemis & Call No. 50 "S" handle pipe wrench. The gripping action of these wrenches is similar to the "alligator" wrench.

Three photos with the same writeup....

This is my favorite open-field at sunrise location, on Mulliken Road a couple miles south of town. You can see for a couple miles, looking east, while the trees and structures (and even the telephone poles) give you elements to structure a photograph that isn't just open fields.

I've mentioned, from time to time, my shoot-reframe-refocus-shoot-repeat photographic habits. Here's an excellent example. In just over a minute I shot fifteen photographs with four distinct framings, with minor settings changes between most of the snaps. All were shot from the same location and in generally the same direction, though I panned from northeast to southeast over the session.

This is how I work, folks.

The Moscow airshow (officially called the Moscow International Aviation and Space Salon) is like a Cold War spies wet dream. Most of the current russian airforce makes an appearance, along with some of the other exotic stuff that you dont get to see so often on the other side of the curtain.
