The Ancient Art of Kushti

The ancient traditional art of Indian wrestling, known as ‘kushti’, thrives in wrestling gyms, or ‘akhara’, scattered around the India. Akhara are one of the few places in India where Hindu men who come from different castes are considered equals.

 

Guru Jasram Ji's Akhara is on Mathura Road Highway in South Delhi near Modi Mill Flyover. It is one of the biggest and most reputed Akharas (wrestling training centers) in India. The Akhara is run by 85-year-old Guru Jasram Ji. Everyday he comes to the Akhara at 5.a.m. and 3 .p.m. to train the wrestlers.

Two black-tailed prairie dog puppies wrestle at Cherry Creek State Park, Colorado. This at the model airplane field, across from the pond on Cottonwood Creek. The puppies spend about 99% of their time eating and surprisingly little playing. They are on constant alert, diving into their burrows if a raptor flies near or a coyote nears.
