“I came upon a child of God

He was walking along the road

And I asked him, where are you going ?

And this he told me...

We are stardust

We are Golden

And we got to get ourselves

Back to the Garden...”

"Straat- en andere edelstenen"

De combinatie van regenachtig weer en een olielekkage levert beeldschone plaatjes op. Ik zag dit op het Lange Voorhout, pal voor de deur van het voormalige Saur (momenteel Wox o.i.d.).

Ik had hier zelf weinig aan toe te voegen qua kleuren en bewerking.

Full steam ahead, the special Mallard running to and from the bus wash every few minutes where I took the very first run and ended up with technical difficulties, so I had to go round again to get it through the bus wash.

Everything inside the bus wash looks fabulous and it was surely not to be missed (Unless you're reading this and ended up not doing it on time). This was the same bus that appeared at the Olive Grove open day 1 year ago.

BMC ADO 71 was the model mcode used by BMC for their large family car, from from September 1964 to 1975. The car was initially sold under the Austin marque as the Austin 1800, then by Morris as the Morris 1800, by Wolseley as the Wolseley 18/85, and later the Austin 2200, Morris 2200 and Wolseley Six. The 1800 was voted European Car of the Year for 1965.

Designed by Sir Alec Issigonis the new car was unconventional in its appearance in 1964, with its large airy windows, it was also spacious with minimalist interior including leather, wood, and chrome features plus an unusual instrument display with ribbon speedometer and green indicator light on the end of the indicator stalk., the two front seats met in the middle and could be used as a bench seat. Both Alec Issigonis and Pininfarina worked on its exterior. The technology "under the skin" was also unconventional and ahead of its time, including Hydrolastic suspension and an example of inertia-controlled braking in the form of a valve which transferred braking force between front and rear axles as a function of sensed deceleration. The body shell was also exceptionally stiff. The car was progressively updated particularly during its early years

In May 968, a Mark II version was launched, featuring a more conventional interior revised front grilles and other trim, and for the Austin and Morris models the slim, horizontal rear lights were replaced by vertical "fin" lights which gave a family look along with the smaller ADO16 range.

A facelift Mark III version followed from 1972-75, bringing another change to the front grille, merging the styles of the Austin and Morris versions and the interior updated including the introduction of a floor mounted hand brake, rather than the earlier "umbrella handle" handbrake mounted beneath the dash board parcel shelf
