Being one of the older German cities, Worms has played a key role in German history. Worms current incarnation was founded by Charlemagne, and the city's bishopric dates back to the fourth century. The town is famous for the Diet of Worms, to which Luther was summoned in 1521 to Emperor Charles V. He refused to recant his beliefs, saying the famous words "Here I stand. I can do no other. God help me. Amen." As a result, he was declared vogelfrei (=outlaw) by the secular authorities and excommunicated by the church. You can still see many vestiges of the old city walls, particularly the Torturmplatz and the Karolingerstraße. The Dom of St. Peter and St Paul, which was completed in 1325 survived the destruction of World War II.

I know this the third image in a row with a super wide crop. It just worked so well for these images. Warblers are quite small and unless you get them on a vertical or diagonal perch you're often left with a lot of dead space. That being said, you can't control where a bird lands. You can recommend a particular branch all you want but a Warbler is going to Warble wherever it so pleases. Sometimes a bird will land on that perfect perch and other times you are not so lucky. For instance, this Worm-eating Warbler gave quite the performance while the Warbler Crazy team and myself looked on. He mainly stuck to an old and long dead tree in the middle of a small clearing near the trail, only coming down to nice photographable perch one or two times. After singing to his hearts content he made a quick stop on this perch giving us one last look before hitting the road. That was a lie, he came back but in a dense shrub for all of thirty seconds.
March’s full supermoon was dubbed the ‘full worm moon’ by Native Americans because it occurs at a time of year when the ground is softening, and earthworm casts (worm manure) start to reappear, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.
Called the worm moon because it's the first full moon of Spring when the earthworms wiggle out of the earth.
Even though it is called a slow worm, these reptiles usually make a quick escape once being discovered. This afternoon I was very lucky with this beauty. We both stayed calm and it posed patiently for me. In most languages I know it is called a worm whilst it is actually a legless lizard.
