How long does it take to form. tune, and decorate an ocarina of this size? The answer is probably, "Too long to ever recover the time invested". Ultimately, the additional time to bisque fire, glaze, glaze fire (repeatedly) will put the pricing of higher quality pieces out of reach...which is cause for reflecting upon the question, "Why do you really do this?"
This is a guy I am working on at the moment. I challenged a friend to paint one as well, neither of us can use metallic paints. So far I have done the armour (Possibly) a few red bits and started the force weapon.
My husband got a new pump for our little pond yesterday. I still need to try out various different configurations and do this and that...
I grabbed stashed and recycled papers, envelopes and other ephemera to fill up the book. Since the binding clips open and close, I can always move things around, flip pages or add new materials.
Getting close to the finish for this one. Next I've gone over the table with Yellow Ochre, and then a touch of Deco Yellow along the horizon to emphasize the light source.
Then for the background I layered in Indigo Blue to cool it down. I also put some Indigo Blue in the shadows of the fruit, but not as much as in the background. Only in the very core of the shadowed areas, leaving the edges warm with the last layer of Tuscan Red.
Next scan will be of the finished piece! There's work to do on the flesh of the fruit, as well as the skin. I left these last, because it is always best to finish your backgrounds first. Environment greatly affects the color of things, and you'll find what you thought was great work to look flat or off color if you don't follow this rule.
This is my very first coif as a work in progress. This first set of pic's show it as the beanie or skull cap portion. This section of the coif has many expansions in order to get to the proper head diameter.

This is a work in progress. I just started chain maille and this is the first real piece that I created. I used 20 gauge rings in a 6mm. I love this design and its possibly my favorite.
