...and feeling the day-to-day has become a rollercoaster ride of the surreal and unknowns.

Just 24-48 hours ago this scene would've been odd yet apt, however that was before Paris went a step further today and closed all bars, restaurants, cafes etc. But then we've all seen how things are changing lately - within the day...within the hour even. None of it feeling 'normal'.

Who knew, when I took this photo just a few short months ago (Oct. 2019), that it actually wouldn't even seem all that odd by the time I posted it, especially given what's going on across the world right now? And as of today, Vancouver has just about shut down completely with most stores, restaurants and non-essential services and businesses (I'd say 90 to 95% around the Kitsilano neighbourhood where I live) closing up for at least the next couple of weeks and even schools are anticipating staying closed beyond Spring break, possibly longer, which impacts my single-mom-teacher sister quite badly.

Tonight I went for a short walk around our neighbourhood and if I didn't already know what's going on, I would've for sure wondered what the heck is going on - where IS everybody and why are the handful of people outside the local liquor store lined up when the store is obviously empty and why are they all standing 1 metre apart? Things you never thought you'd see and even the TV and internet are full of surreal stories and terminology you thought was simply the stuff of fictional Netflix series and futuristic movies.

It's on each of us to do our part in helping halt, reduce and eventually contain/stop this virus and mitigate the additional stress it will push onto our healthcare systems. And on that note, please take a moment to recognize and applaud our health services professionals for their bravery, commitment and for enduring the long hours and stress that this must surely be putting on each and every one of them. Stay safe, healthy and - most of all - be compassionate everyone and please help and support one another, especially the elderly and vulnerable, amid these extraordinary and uncertain times.

In the midst of Edinburgh’s ever-bustling Royal Mile — a thoroughfare steeped in centuries of pageantry, protest, and procession — this modern-day scholar has carved out a bubble of calm. Sitting on the worn steps of a Georgian doorway, he types intently as Fringe flyers flutter by and bagpipers drone in the distance. The Mile may be awash with performers and punters, but here, in a sliver of shadow, work takes precedence over play.

This WAS my office for a few days. I'm going to miss the view, but not the price tag. I'm settled into my new digs now. A sort of cross between a studio apartment and a hotel near #Silom in #Bangkok . I'll share pics later. The owner of the Residence I'm at will be in tomorrow (no one else speaks English) so I may change rooms once he explains everything and get to poke around some. It's funny because I didn't really "check in." The owner just told the housekeeper, a super sweet helpful woman with next to zero English skills, to show me to a room and we'd figure everything out on Monday. I am still a bit sickly with swollen throat and body fatigue. I'm chocking that up to the airplane and jet lag still. Taking Nyquil & Dayquil.

For some, AMAZING, reason Spotify is working in #Thailand . Everything that I read said it wouldn't, yay music. I look forward to really settling in a doing some grocery shopping later. I crashed hard again yesterday afternoon, but I Advil PM'd myself back to sleep and didn't get out of bed until 7am. The blindfold and earplugs really helped me to relax too. I did get in about a hour of internet around 1am when I woke up though, 555.

(ProTip: 555 = LOL in Thailand. 5 in Thai sounds like "ha," therefore 555 = hahaha.)
