The end of summer harvest is busy.
The dune-like loess hills in The Palouse are incredibly fertile - producing wheat, barley, lentils and yellow canola.
Bright red or white barns are scattered across the landscape nestled in the wind breaks planted around the farm homes.

There they stay during the night. My Flickr friend Rebecca explained Bred Last meaning in Swedish is Wide Load.
Ventspils has regular ferry service with Nynäsham, so blue Scania probably will go to Sweden...
Decided to take a few minutes and try some extended exposures of Lords Lake and Green Mountain under the morning sky.
“Humanity, take a good look at yourself. Inside, you’ve got heaven and earth, and all of creation. You’re a world—everything is hidden in you.”
-Hildegard of Bingen
Early May in The Palouse farming country is a busy time. The sun rises at 5am and sets at 8pm, so the crop dusters, giant tractors and all of the other heavy equipment are in full use. The first photo caught one of two yellow crop dusters and a busy tractor from ¾ of the way up Steptoe Butte. The second one was taken just at the exit road from the Butte. People are busy but friendly, willing to stop and chat on a beautiful 72 degree F/22 degree C Spring day.
This is the view from my office which is on the 14th floor in an office building in Vienna. We do have floor to ceiling windows and it's an amazing part of going to work.

Actually, there are more than just these three photos for the weekly challenge "My Favorite Things."
There’s a story behind them, but I’ll keep it short.
Very few people enjoy waking up early in the morning, especially when they are warm and comfortable in bed. Looking out the window, it's cold, stormy, and raining—hardly inviting.
But then, there are those rare moments when everything aligns perfectly—the weather, the timing, the light. That’s when I jump out of bed, head to the living room, grab my camera and tripod, maybe even a second prime lens, and get ready for a long trip.
Well, not really that long. I just open the balcony door, set up everything, take a few photos, then head back inside to enjoy some fresh coffee, take a shower, and start my day.
This is one of my favorite things in the morning—waking up, jumping out of bed, and capturing beautiful moments. And the best part? Every day is a little different.
I had a very stressful day at at work, but thank you daylight savings for extending the opportunity to get out and relax, reflect and recharge in nature after the workday is done. The tranquility and beauty of the gorge is just amazing! and always puts me back on track!
I really wanted to use a quicker exposure to capture the crisp reflections in the water, but a large group of kids throwing rocks kept the water ripply long enough for the large barge/tugboat to make it down river and really bring on the waves! as I said, it was one of those days! thank goodness for my 10 stop nd filter....
I know this is "waterfall Wednesday" but I am heading out to shoot waterfalls in just a bit (that counts right?)... and I am looking forward to everyone's great cascading captures!!!!
