But, more importantly, today’s emerging photographers now must be “visual wordsmiths” with either a clear didactic or an esoteric imperative. Be a poet, not a technical “writer”. Perhaps more simply put, find a heartfelt personal project. Give yourself the “assignment” you might dream someone would give you. Please remember, you and only you will control your destiny. Believe it, know it, say it :-)

I totally fell in love with the new male only event, Monsieur Chic. It’s just amazing and riiight up my alley in terms of male fashion. It’s classy , dandy, so posh! I always have a lot of fun trying to create a story around the character gives it personality through scenery or accessories. This fancy Sir is a writer, someone skilled with words and highly literate. Perhaps a Nobel? Anyway, if you fancy and you know it, grab your purse and run to Monsieur Chic!

A tribute to the many writers who have played an unimaginably important role in my life. Language is one of the most magical and delightful creations the human race has produced (I find it significant that certain religions and ideologies stress the power of the written and spoken word)--various arcane symbols rooted in ages gone by, filled with nuanced meanings, ever changing and evolving. Language enables us to share our ideas, feelings and emotions with other humans, a sort of primitive telepathy--a way of bridging the gap between our isolated conscious experiences, across time and space.

Without the magic of language, and the many writers who have dedicated themselves to the craft and mastery of it, our life here on Earth would be significantly impoverished.

So here's to the writers, living and dead; the wordsmiths who live in my heart and converse in my head.

A line from Billy Bragg (Greetings to the new Brunette) another master wordsmith.

The lyric can be interpreted in a more salacious manner but I was thinking in relation to an image that we can manipulation to create an impression of a feeling, a mood, a thought.

I was abit hesitant to put his up as it's not my usual type of image and perhaps people wont like it.

But I guess "you can't please all of the people all of the time" and perhaps you oughtn't try.

Looking at his life in those days from the outside, in retrospect, we might say Gerard, though posted to many places, did not have a very eventful life. However, his poetic experimentations were the events and experiences of his life, wrung from him at times of high emotion—ecstasy, tragedy, devotion—wrestled from his wordsmith’s stock-in-trade, written into his relationship with Christ. Gerard’s theology shaped the framework, and his aesthetic sensibility provided the form. The result was his true self, spelled out on the page.

After the "flying naan bread", which incidentally was about 3pm when there was still the last throws of a blue sky to be seen, I was forced further up the beach. The conditions were getting bleaker and tempestuous by the minute. And to add insult to injury, the sea foam was making a mockery of any long exposure shots I had planned for, but since I had cajoled Mrs R this far under the pretence of it being the best view of the castle (hmm), I thought I'd better make an attempt... this is 20 minutes after naan and as good as it got!

In hindsight, I quite like the whiteout sea... it reminds me of John Carpenter's The Fog, and if I was a good wordsmith I might have gone down that road for a decent title, but you can't have everything. Not so sure I'd like to be there on my own after dark with only moonlight for company and that thought in my head.

after much discourse, contemplation, and help from computer guru/photographer extraordinaire/wordsmith Paul BOudreau I've figured out how to implement my plan. I'd like you folks to think about what your best shot of the year was and put a link to it in comments. I'll unfave and refave so I can put it in a gallery. I'd love to hear the telling of the tale if it isn't already on the pic. Have fun with this, it's a hard choice for sure. I'll start in comments.

Late at night when all the world is sleeping

I stay up and think of you

And I wish on a star

That somewhere you are

Thinking of me too

'Cause I'm dreaming of you tonight

'Till tomorrow

I'll be holding you tight

And there's nowhere in the world I'd rather be

Than here in my room

Dreaming about you and me

A residence has been on the site of the current manor since as early as the 15th century - perhaps earlier. It was once the residence of the famous English wordsmith John Milton. The current manor was rebuilt in 1848. Unfortunately, It has been abandoned since 1987 and is now protected by an angry shotgun welding farmer and an adolescent bull.

Once known as Broad Water but the name changed when two brothers drowned in its waters in the eighteenth century. I recently read about a newspaper article dated Jan 1788 reporting two brothers aged 16 and 19 returning home across a frozen lake fell through the ice and drowned.

The path around the lake has to provide one of the most beautiful short walks in the Lake District with the added bonus of an old Inn half way round, when open!! Limited parking at the Northern end of the lake....

Those great walkers and wordsmiths Dorothy and William Wordsworth passed this way a long time ago and Bill sat for while on Cow Bridge to catch his breath. Dorothy continued down the path towards the lake and later wrote, "the boughs of the bare old trees, the simplicity of the mountains, and the exquisite beauty of the path...the gentle flowing of the stream, the glittering, lively lake, green fields without a living creature to be seen on them."

Kris Kristofferson June 22, 1936 - September 28, 2024

I was so saddened to hear we lost a giant of a man Kris Kristofferson last week. I was turned on to Kris as a young man by my uncle on his farm I worked when I was a young man. Such a brilliant man, a wordsmith par excellence!

I choose this song over the dozens of other incredible tunes he wrote, because I have always felt a connection of its duality paradox of the human condition, and we all have 2 sides of us.

Kris was a "Dudes" Dude!

🎶[The Silver Tongued Devil And I (Kris Kristofferson Live!)] 🎶

I took myself down, to the Tally Ho Tavern

To buy me a bottle of beer

And I sat me down by a tender young maiden

Whose eyes were as dark as her hair

And as I was searching from bottle to bottle

For somethin' unfoolish to say

That silver tongued devil just slipped from the shadows

And smilingly stole her away

I said hey, little girl, don't you know, he's the devil

He's ev'rything that I ain't

Hidin' intentions of evil

Under the smile of a saint

All he's good for is gettin' in trouble

And shiftin' his share of the blame

And some people swear he's my double

And some even say we're the same

But the silver-tongued devil's got nothin' to lose

I'll only live till I die

We take our own chances, and pay our own dues

The silver tongued devil and I

Like all the fair maidens who've laid down beside him

She knew in her heart that he'd lied

Nothin' that I could have said could have saved her

No matter, how hard that she tried

'Cause she'll offer her charms, to the darkness and danger

Of something that she's never known

And open her arms at the smile of a stranger

Who'll love her and leave her alone

And you know he's the devil

He's everything that I ain't

Hidin' intentions of evil

Under the smile of a saint

All he's good for is gettin' in trouble

And shiftin' his share of the blame

And some people swear he's my double

And some even say we're the same

But the silver-tongued devil's got nothin' to lose

I'll only live till I die

We take our own chances, and pay our own dues

The silver tongued devil and I

I began writing verse at Buzznet its been a journey in and out of hell..it began in August 2005 ..

I am perhaps the only unpublished cyber toilet poet on paper, .my poems were inspired on the hot seat of wisdom most of the time .. earlier of course, as the way I write poems now you might think I have the runs..falling in love makes you a better poet than a photographer and falling out of love makes you a great photographer than a poet .. I am struggling anyway..
