The Shambles is a historic street in York, England, featuring preserved medieval buildings, some dating back as far as the fourteenth century. The street is narrow with many timber-framed buildings with jettied floors that overhang the street by several feet. It was once known as The Great Flesh Shambles, probably from the Anglo-Saxon Fleshammels (literally 'flesh-shelves'), the word for the shelves that butchers used to display their meat. In 1885, thirty-one butchers' shops were located along the street, but now none remain.

Today is a pink / purple day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Smile on Saturday Group is : iridescent.
Well, well , well, it was a very difficult one for me. I had a concept but apparently
iridescence is very hard to photograph (at least for me !!). I had few iridescent items in my huge collection of stuff (yes, I’m a hoarder and we all know it by now lol) but nothing was « iridescent » enough for my taste. I was about to give up but then I saw my husband’s huge collection (yes, he is a hoarder too(but not as severe as me !!!)) of CD’s ! And bam ! I saw an iridescent ray of light in my head , glowing beautifully like there is no other iridescent source of light on this earth (FYI : I dont take any drugs !!! And since I’m on a diet : no alcohol… but maybe the low percentage of carbs is affecting my mind more than I thought …). And just like that, a new obsession was born !
So here you go: iridescent and levitating CDs…

De vliegtijd loopt van eind april tot eind juli met een piek in mei en begin juni. Na het uitsluipen zoeken de imago’s meestal het bos op om te jagen en geslachtsrijp te worden. Ze zijn vaak te vinden boven bospaden en langs bosranden, heen en weer vliegend op ca. een meter hoogte. Geslachtsrijpe mannetjes maken patrouillevluchten, waarbij ze vlak langs de oevervegetatie en op geringe hoogte boven het water vliegen. Ze blijven daarbij vaak stilhangen in de lucht, waarbij de groene ogen en het knotsvormig achterlijf opvallen. Ze kunnen echter ook snelle uitvallen maken. Andere mannetjes worden direct verjaagd en vrouwtjes worden direct gegrepen voor de paring. Ook hebben ze het regelmatig met viervlekken aan de stok. De eitjes worden solitair door het vrouwtje in vlucht afgezet, waarbij ze meestal goed verscholen gaat tussen de dichte oevervegetatie. Niet zelden gebeurt dit laat op de dag of bij bewolkt of zelfs miezerig weer. Op die manier verkleint ze de kans om door ander mannetjes belaagd te worden.
De larven overwinteren twee, soms drie keer. De larven zijn volgroeid als ze de laatste winter in gaan. Uitsluipen gebeurt van half april tot in juni, met een piek in mei.

The word sail, a monument to poetry, is the name of a steel sculpture by Heinrich Popp.
The sculpture stands on an open field northwest of Sotzweiler, the birthplace of the sculptor and today a district of the Saarland municipality of Tholey in the district of St. Wendel. On an elevation of about 338 metres above NHN, the sculpture represents a landmark visible from afar.
The word sail consists of two sail-shaped triangles, one of which stands on the top and which are twisted against each other. The two halves of the sail, made of stainless steel, are welded together at their highest point. At the same time, the empty space between the two steel plates also has a sail-like shape, depending on the point of view.
The monument, a gift from Heinrich Popp to his home community, was erected in 2005 after several years of planning and execution. The two steel plates were cast in the Dillinger Hütte and rolled to a thickness of 3 cm. The sculpture has a height of 13 meters and a total weight of approx. 30 tons.
The term word sail is also the name of a writing and poetry competition initiated by the artist at participating schools in Saarland.

Das Wortsegel, ein Denkmal für Poesie, ist der Name einer Stahlplastik von Heinrich Popp.
Die Skulptur steht auf offenem Feld nordwestlich von Sotzweiler, dem Geburtsort des Bildhauers und heute ein Ortsteil der saarländischen Gemeinde Tholey im Landkreis St. Wendel. Auf einer Anhöhe von etwa 338 Metern über NHN stellt die Plastik eine weithin sichtbare Landmarke dar.
Das Wortsegel besteht aus zwei jeweils segelförmigen Dreiecken, von denen eins auf der Spitze steht und die gegeneinander verdreht/verspiegelt aufgestellt sind. An ihrer obersten Stelle sind die beiden aus rostendem Stahl erschaffenen Segelhälften miteinander verschweißt. Gleichzeitig besitzt auch der sich zwischen den beiden Stahlplatten befindende leere Raum abhängig vom Betrachtungsstandpunkt ebenfalls eine segelähnliche Form.
Das Denkmal, ein Geschenk von Heinrich Popp an seine Heimatgemeinde, wurde nach mehrjähriger Planungs- und Ausführungsphase 2005 errichtet. Die beiden Stahlplatten wurden in der Dillinger Hütte gegossen und bis auf eine Stärke von 3 cm gewalzt. Die Skulptur hat eine Höhe von 13 Metern und besitzt ein Gesamtgewicht von ca. 30 Tonnen
Der Begriff Wortsegel ist gleichzeitig der Name eines von dem Künstler ins Leben gerufenen Schreib- und Lyrikwettbewerbs an teilnehmenden Schulen im Saarland.

In 2021 kocht Brouwer Techniek veertien DM '90 treinstellen van de NS. De treinstellen worden opgeknapt en verkocht. In augustus 2021 werden de treinstellen van Houtrakpolder naar Blerick overgebracht, om bij Cabooter Railterminal Greenport Venlo opgesteld te worden.
De laatste maanden is het vervoer op de railterminal zo gegroeid, dat er gebrek aan capaciteit aanbreekt en alle sporen op de terminal benodigd zijn. Om plaatst te maken op de terminal, moesten de DM'90 van de terminal af en werden ze overgebracht naar Blerick, omgestald te worden op de kopsporen aan de lijn Nijmegen-Venlo.
Brouwer 712 met DM '90 3419 + 3401 + 3414 rangeert in Blerick.

Taking place in the controversial Yasukuni shrine, it sees some 30,000 lanterns strung up in memory of the dead. The festival started in 1947 just a couple of years following the conclusion of WWII, in which over two million Japanese soldiers lost their lives.
In de zomer van 2020 kon er toch nog midden in de coronacrisis (of hopelijk aan het einde?) worden afgereisd met ons gezin naar het mooie Tsjechië. We zaten in het dorpje Všestary ten zuidoosten van Praag. Terwijl de dames lekker in of bij het zwembad lagen, kon ik mijn gang gaan bij het spoor en daarna nog een duik nemen.
We zaten niet al te ver van de fraaie diesellijnen langs de rivier de Sázavou. We zaten het dichtst bij de oostelijke lijn van Čerčany naar Zruč nad Sázavou. Op zaterdagen in de zomer wordt op deze lijn één treinenpaar gereden door een getrokken trein met als tractie een dieselloc van de serie 754. Nadat op zaterdagmiddag een plaat werd geschoten van de 754 008 in de nieuwe kleurstelling, werd op zondag de lijn wederom bezocht. Op zondag rijden twee treinenparen met een 754.
Op zondag 12 juli reed de fraaie 754 051 de eerste slag (Os 9211 / Sp 1598) en de tweede slag (Os 9215 / Os 9216) werd gereden door de 754 008. Ik was die ochtend van plan om het mooie zonlicht te benutten voor een opname van de Bardotka 749 264 op de westelijke diesellijn. Dit kon mooi worden gecombineerd met de eerste door de 754 051 getrokken trein op de oostelijke lijn.
Hier zien we de gave Čd "Duikbril" 754 051-1 met Os 9211 Čerčany-Zruč nad Sázavou binnenkomen in het landelijke stationnetje van Lštění op 12-7-2020.
Neben der sehr schön gewordenen 111 074 ist auch die 218 443 von DB Gebrauchtzug übernommen worden und in das (angelehnte) Touristik-Design der einstigen Tourismus-Züge lackiert worden.
Mir persönlich gefallen die Kanarienvögel sehr, was mich auch dazu motivierte am 06.06.2022 ganz umweltfreundlich mit der Bahn das Filstal für den IC2013 unsicher zu machen.
Die 218 443 im Filstal ist eigentlich nichts besonderes, denn bis auf wenige Ausnahmen war die Ulmer-Stammlok seit 2002 stets bei der RAB beheimatet und machte den Süden Deutschlands an RE/RB und IREs, sowie ICs unsicher.
Aber seit dem Kempten die Fernverkehrsleistungen der Diesel-ICs im Süden übernommen hat, sind nur noch selten Ulmer Windmühlen an den Weißen Zügen anzutreffen.
Zugegeben, ich pokerte ziemlich, als ich mich am 06.06.22 auf den Weg ins Filstal machte. Das Wetter war mehr als wechselhaft und ich hatte schon mit der Tour abgeschlossen, bevor sie zu Ende war.
Immerhin ein wenig Restlicht bekam das exotische Doppel mit der Kemptner 218 411 an zweiter Stelle am Allgäu-IC, als diese gerade das Esig Süßen unterhalb der Burg Staufeneck hinter sich gelassen hatten.

The scene was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights CL/CR. They were fired in Manual mode at ⅛ power (CL) and 1⁄16 power (CR) through 24" gridded soft boxes.
The SB900s were triggered by PocketWizard Plus Xs.

De Oostenrijkse spoorgoederenvervoerder LTE heeft in het voorjaar van 2017 de film "Lord of the Rails - one rail to serve" laten maken. De ruim zeven minuten durende promotiefilm is gebaseerd op de Lord of the Rings-filmtrilogie en laat een queeste zien van drie metgezellen op doorreis in Midden-Aarde.
De film laat op een originele wijze de teamspirit van het personeel van LTE zien. De film is begin mei 2017 op de Transport Logistic-beurs in München in premiere gegaan. Speciaal hiervoor is de 187 930 aan beide zijden bestickerd met promotiemateriaal van Lord of the Rails. Afgelopen jaar kwam de 187 931 met een vergelijkbare bestickering in dienst bij LTE. De bestickering is overigens aangebracht op een Flexpanel, dat op beide zijkanten van de locomotief aangebracht kan worden.
Op 25 juli 2019 werd de fraaie locomotief ingezet voor een beladen (bio)ketelwagentrein uit het Oostenrijkse Stadlau naar Hamburg Hohe Schaar en kon hier in Wernfeld worden vastgelegd. Nog geen week later zou blijken dat beide Lord-Of-The-Rails 187'ers vanwege vandalisme hun flexpanel zijn kwijtgeraakt.
Op 16 juli werd vanuit Spanje na een heerlijke vakantie weer terug gevlogen naar Nederland. Keurig optijd kwam ik thuis aan en daardoor kon in de middag nog een poging worden gewaagd om de VSM vanuit Hoorn terug richting de Veluwe vast te leggen.
Onder enige belangstelling van liefhebbende komen de 23 071 + 23 076 met een zestal rijtuigen ter hoogte van Schardam voorbij gereden en werd de combinatie bij het oversteken van de Korsloot met de drone vastgelegd, waardoor ook het Markermeer zichtbaar in beeld gekomen is.

Ein paar Schritte von Minsen-Förrien entfernt, in Norderaltendeich, befindet sich das Wangerländer Wahrzeichen- das Seewiefken. Laut einer Sage aus dem 16. Jahrhundert soll eine Meerjungfrau von Fischern in Gefangenschaft genommen worden sein. Aus Rache habe sie dann zur Gottesdienstzeit den Deich samt Dorf durch eine Sturmflut zerstört. Seit 1992 steht die attraktive Bronzeplastik auf einem Sockel mit dem Rücken zum Meer und mit stolzem Blick auf die Kirche der Ortschaft Minsen gerichtet.

Op 1 februari 2025 kwamen de Eurocity en Eurocity direct moeizaam op gang, zodat de eerste Traxx die bij Nispen op de foto kon worden gezet, er een van Crossrail was. De 186 447 passeerde met een containertrein richting België de kleumende fotograaf, die verlangde naar zijn verwarmde autostoel.

One word is a big challenge for me, as you can imagine… I like to talk, and one word isn’t enough for me!! So, I decided to use the color of the day as my word. So here you go, have an awesome "one word/pink" day my friends!!
Since I had a little party yesterday, I will be away since I have lots of stuff to do (which I didn’t do yesterday) and also, I probably have a hung over since I was planning on heavily drinking and eating as much cake as I can have before starting my “healthy eating” thing, once again lol. And as my present self knows my future self: I wasn’t a classy lady, so chances are I did drink like a sailor…. Don’t count on me today…So see you later alligator!
