It's 1948 and our elegant model is seemingly oblivious to the feverish dressmaking going on behind her as she admires the craftsmanship on the door. To do this just right, she is attired in a romantic dress of red faille (a close relative of taffeta ) with balloon sleeves and skirt draped under to give a bouffant hemline. The over-the-elbow gloves add a marvelous touch of glamour. The Pretty Dress Faerie can leave a copy of that dress in my closet anytime she wants to.
Walking through the Meadows and among the sounds of people sitting around chatting or laughing in the sun I thought I could hear what sounded like someone sanding wood. Not what you might expect in the middle of a large park space, but yes, this woman was indeed doing some outdoor woodwork on what looked like an old delivery palette. Well, nicer to do it out in an airy green space than inside!

New garage doors go up tomorrow, which necessitated a complete clearing of the garage. Except my chair bench, which the installer deemed "sturdy enough" for him to stand on. Yeah - ya think so?
I couldn't engage this barber into much of a conversation, he was after all cutting this guy's hair. But he did quickly tell me that it was he that created the woodwork lined wall in his shop.
