“The best things about womanhood might possibly even be the conversations. The chatting. The gabbing. The whispering. The hands-on-hips eye-rolling. The yukking-it up.” ~

"Water, Fire and Earth" is a sandstone sculpture in Hyde Park by Gerard Havekes. Born in 1925 in Holland, Gerard Havekes arrived in Australia during the first wave of migration that occurred in Australia in the wake of World War Two. Influenced by his father's architectural background he began drawing and painting at an early age and then moved into working with clay and ceramics. The inscription on a plaque reads as follows: The labours and beauty of pioneering mankind are depicted by three figures Water, Fire and Earth and a flanking font. Water - A fisherman looking to the seas and new horizons. Fire - A woman depicting womanhood and intuition protecting the fire of initiative and progress. Earth - A farmer depicting the pioneering efforts upon which the country has developed. 17565

"I'm a woman who walks at the brink of life and death

Who's emptied my tears many moons ago

All the compassion tears and dreams

The snowy nights and tomorrow hold no meaning

I've immersed my body in the river of vengeance

And thrown away my womanhood many moons ago"

-- Lyrics from Flower of Carnage by Meiko Kaji

Her look is alluring yet her motive is ending to those she regards as her enemy. She is but the seductive assasin, using her womanhood to seduce those who are bound to hurt those she cares for deeply. Taken at Dean Studio sim MadMax theme area.

Best when expanded. In Ovid’s Metamorphoses, Book X, Pygmalion, a sculptor, creates an ivory statue that represents his ideal of womanhood. He falls in love with his own creation. The goddess Venus brings the statue to life in response to his prayers. Pygmalion is so enchanted with his own creation and feels waves of joy and desire sweeping over his body. In a moment of inspiration, he names the figurine Galatea. "She who is milk-white".

Wishing all my lady friends, and visitors a happy International Woman’s Day! International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated annually on 8 March as a global day focussing on the women's rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women. International Women's Day is commemorated in a variety of ways worldwide; it is a public holiday in several countries, and observed socially or locally in others to celebrate and promote the achievements of women. The UN observes the holiday in connection with a particular issue, campaign, or theme in women's rights. In some parts of the world, IWD still reflects its political origins, being marked by protests and calls for radical change; in other areas, particularly in the West, it is largely sociocultural and centered on a celebration of womanhood.

A Yellow rose.

What is The Yellow Rose of Texas?

Her name was Emily Morgan, and she was the sweetest little rosebud that Texas ever knew. She was, in fact, the Yellow Rose of Texas. That song is not, as you may have thought, simply a celebration of a rather blah ideal of Lone Star womanhood. It is an homage to the accidental heroine of Texas independence.

Artist Amy Sherald

"Listen, You A Wonder, You A City of a Woman, You Got A Geography of Your Own"

The title of the painting is from Lucille Clifton's poem "what the mirror said" which is an ode to Black womanhood, self-worth and identity.

When women come together,

something magical happens.

It’s science, the mystical kind,

and it’s an unstoppable force,

to be reckoned with.

When women come together,

they connect,

on a deeper level,

both spiritually and cellularly.

Souls nodding in alignment, I see you.

Put women together for long enough

and their cycles will sync.

If that is not an example of the wondrous, connective majesty of womanhood,

what is my friend, what is?

When women come together,

an unseen wall is fashioned,

built from the wisdom of the breaks,

we have all endured,

and the passion to scream louder,

so that those beneath us can hear,

and need not suffer the same.

When women come together,

and tell their stories,

the good and the bad,

the power created is a tsunami of strength and intuition.

Washing us all on to better things.

A wave of majesty, wisdom and connection.

When women come together,

we are, quite frankly, intimidating.

So watch out for those that will keep us apart.

They are afraid.

We are not.

Hahahaha…….love to hear your thoughts on my thoughts……or of course, you can just tell me how sexy I look…..or DO BOTH!!! 😂😂 Love you all!!💋💕💋💕

It was not only my fifth and final morning, but it was in my final available hour of photographing the beauty of Custer State Park when this lovely lady caught my eye. I had already logged some 3.5 mile of wandering the rolling hills and rock formations in search of a Prairie rattler (another swing and a miss) when I realized that it was time to head back to my car.

As I stood at the back of my car packing away my camera gear, movement caught the corner of my left eye. As I attempted to zero in on the distraction, my mind instantly noticed that of the 50 or so Prairie dog mounds in front of me, not a single dog was up, or alerting on my return…something was very different.

Just as I started to conclude my scan of the area, it happened again. Some 25 yards out, a large amount to dirt was thrown in the air. Something much bigger than a Prairie dog was digging behind the mound, just out of view. Matching the speed of Forest Gump reassembling his weapon in boot camp, I unpacked my largest lens, switched camera bodies and attached my monopod in record time!

It took a while to close the gap a bit because I had to stop every few steps and look through the lens for activity, check settings and be ready to capture a few safety shots. I wrongly assumed that whatever it was, it would disappear into its den the second I was noticed. When she arched her back up, perfectly displaying the unmistakable markings of a Badger, I gasped, gulped and nearly provided a fecal sample instantly!

I took several shots of her back with dirt flying through the air, just in case this would be my only opportunity granted with this bucket listed gift from God. I guess her internal safety alarm went off…or she noticed my need of a shower, but she threw her head in the air, noticeably utilizing her sight, olfaction and hearing…now staring right down my lens.

It was at this point I captured this shot, a personal treasure. Knowing that the 20 or so yards between us was well within both of our comfort zones, I knew she pretty much had three options…dive down into the newly dug den, run away, or my least favorite…jump on my head and eat my face. Once again, I was blessed to be wrong as she chose a fourth option. She trotted away from me another 20 yards or so and started digging again. It was then that I realized she was hunting Prairie dogs, hunger had this normally nocturnal lady out late, away from her den and probable cubs.

The newly acquired distance between us provided much more comfort as she proceeded to hunt, her checks on my whereabouts becoming less and less frequent. It was when she decided to flip over on her back to enjoy a roll in the freshly dug dirt that I knew she was totally relaxed, and I was able to properly sex her. For the record…no photos of her “womanhood” was taken as I did not desire to have them in my camera nor computer…just in case something would tragically happen to me, like her jealous hubby jumping on my head and eating my face! I would hate for my memory to be tainted when “badger parts” photos were discovered in my files!

Several cars passed by, no doubt looking for wildlife…surely noticing me on my knees out in the middle of a prairie dog town. All missing the opportunity of this rare encounter and absolute blessing. I backed away slowly as I did not want to disrupt this mom’s guilty little pleasure, knowing that the hunt probably wouldn’t end until success was achieved.

“We weren’t born distrusting and fearing ourselves. That was part of our taming. We were taught to believe that who we are in our natural state is bad and dangerous. They convinced us to be afraid of ourselves. So we do not honor our own bodies, curiosity, hunger, judgment, experience, or ambition. Instead, we lock away our true selves. Women who are best at this disappearing act earn the highest praise: She is so selfless. Can you imagine? The epitome of womanhood is to lose one’s self completely. That is the end goal of every patriarchal culture. Because a very effective way to control women is to convince women to control themselves.”

In India, nose piercing is as much a part of tradition as bangles are. For many women, nose piercing is a coming-of-age ritual of sorts. It signifies womanhood, elegance, and for some even a sense of rebellion. Which side the piercing is done depends on what part of India you come from. Women in the south prefer the right side, while the rest of the country opt for the left nostril.
